Taveras has cleared 500 plate appearances in back-to-back seasons with the Rangers, but it may be tough for him to do so again in 2025. While he's performed adequately at the highest level of professional baseball, Taveras has averaged a little over one win above replacement by fWAR over the past four seasons, which just might not be good enough to maintain regular playing time on a Texas club with its sights set on a rebound. He swiped a career-high 23 bags last season and reached double-digit homers for the second straight year. His defense in center field is strong, but Taveras' modest impact with the bat puts him at risk of falling into more of a fourth outfielder role. Evan Carter and Adolis Garcia are expected back in the Texas outfield alongside Wyatt Langford, and Jake Burger, acquired from Miami in the offseason, is now in the mix between first base, third base and DH.
