Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Tuesday's MLB slate begins at 7:05 PM Eastern time and features all 30 teams. There isn't much time left to make your mark in Yahoo! DFS with the season winding down, but the players below have the right combination of situation and platoon advantage to help owners post a strong showing on the final Tuesday of the regular season.

PITCHER

Daniel Mengden, OAK vs. SEA ($30): Mengden's been terrific over his past two starts, hurling 16 scoreless innings while posting an 11:0 K:BB. The only flaw with the 24-year-old righty is his 15.0 percent strikeout rate through 30 innings, but last season's 21.4 percent mark in 72 frames with Oakland suggests he's likely to improve in that category. At just $30, Mengden's recent form makes him tough to overlook with the middling Mariners offense in town.

Kevin Gausman, BAL at PIT ($41): The inconsistent Gausman has been trending in the right direction lately, holding four of his past five opponents to either zero or one earned run while posting at least 27.8 fantasy points in each of those four strong outings. He'll have a great opportunity to finish his campaign on a high note against a light-hitting Pirates lineup that's outscored only San Diego and San Francisco with 4.06 runs per game. With a serviceable 21.4 percent strikeout rate and at least seven innings pitched in seven of his past 10 starts, Gausman can also be counted upon to make strong contributions in the strikeout department when he's on his game.

CATCHER

Chris Iannetta, ARI vs. SF ($14): Iannetta showed his upside at the plate with a two-homer, eight RBI effort last Friday and is capable of putting up another terrific performance here. The catcher sports a .397 wOBA against southpaws, so finding success shouldn't be difficult against subpar left-hander Matt Moore, who comes in with a 5.20 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Chase Field's third-ranked 1.20 park factor tips the scale even further in Iannetta's favor.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI vs. SF ($21): Goldschmidt has abused San Francisco's Moore in past matchups with a .357/.400/.643 line in 14 at-bats. That success isn't surprising given Goldschmidt's career .432 wOBA against lefties. The NL MVP candidate has found similar success with a .414 mark this season and should get plenty of RBI opportunities while batting third in the dangerous Diamondbacks lineup.

SECOND BASE

Ian Kinsler, DET at KC ($16): Kinsler is one of the last holdovers of a Detroit lineup that opened the season teeming with veteran sluggers from the right side. The leadoff man is still capable of carrying the mail against lefties, as evidenced by his .372 wOBA in that split heading into this date with Kansas City's Jason Vargas. Kinsler's also remarkably affordable considering he's launched eight home runs in his past 17 games and four in his past six.

THIRD BASE

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. HOU ($20): Beltre's having a magnificent season against left-handed pitching, sporting a .481 wOBA and 7:13 K:BB in 80 plate appearances. That production makes him a strong option at the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park in Arlington(1.22 park factor), even with elite southpaw Dallas Keuchel taking the mound for the visitors. Keuchel's been markedly worse on the road, posting a tidy 2.26 ERA at Minute Maid Park and a 3.71 mark elsewhere.

SHORTSTOP

Asdrubal Cabrera, NYM vs. ATL ($18): Past history against knuckleballers is a solid indicator of future success, so Cabrera's numbers against R.A. Dickey bode well for his chances in this matchup. Cabrera's slashing .308/.387/.808 against this foe, including three home runs and six extra-base hits in 26 at-bats. The switch-hitting infielder will also have the platoon advantage regardless of who comes out of the bullpen to relieve Dickey, and benefits from batting third in the order.

OUTFIELD

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. TB ($24): There's nobody in baseball more likely to hit one out of the park than Judge. The rookie behemoth has ridden Yankee Stadium's second-ranked 1.29 home run park factor to 31 homers in 72 home games while all 14 long balls allowed by Rays lefty Blake Snell have been hit by right-handed batters.

George Springer, HOU at TEX ($16): Like Texas' Beltre, Springer's also primed to ride Globe Life Park in Arlington's second-ranked park factor against a left-handed starter. Houston's leadoff man has a .413 wOBA against southpaws, and that mark jumps to .483 when he gets away from Minute Maid Park. Meanwhile, Cole Hamels' 4.82 xFIP is almost a full run worse than his previous worst from 2016, suggesting the Rangers starter is no longer near the elite echelon of pitchers from the left side.

Hunter Renfroe, SD at LAD ($17): Often overlooked because he plays for the Padres, Renfroe has quietly put together a phenomenal campaign against left-handed pitching. His 10 home runs over 106 at-bats in that split have contributed to a .452 wOBA. The young slugger usually bats clean-up against southpaws and has tremendous upside relative to his price even with a tough matchup against Alex Wood on tap.
