Yahoo DFS Baseball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Michael Wacha, STL at ATL ($37): Wacha has pitched at least six innings in all five of his starts, and he's yet to allow more than four runs in any outing. The matchup Sunday is solid too, with Atlanta losing five of their last six games, while averaging only 3.2 runs per game.

CATCHER

Yasmani Grandal, LAD at SD ($9): Grandal has scored 20 fantasy points over his last five games, four of which came while he was hitting in the cleanup spot. He'll now face right-hander Trevor Cahill, who has pitched well enough this season that many could be avoiding Grandal despite his strong spot in the lineup.

FIRST BASE

Victor Martinez, DET at OAK ($9): Martinez is averaging 7.7 fantasy points per game over his last eight, and he now gets to face a rusty Sonny Gray, who allowed four earned runs over six innings in his first start of the season after posting a 4.67 FIP last year.

SECOND BASE

Robinson Cano, SEA vs. TEX ($18): Cano has scored at least 5.7 fantasy points nine times in his last 12 games, including at least 11.7 in half of those outings. Opposing starter Andrew Cashner has a solid .242 wOBA allowed to the 49 left-handed batters he's faced this season, but that figure was .380 last year in 297 plate appearances.

THIRD BASE

Manny Machado, BAL vs. CWS ($19): Machado has homered in four of his last six games, and he is averaging 12.6 fantasy points per game over his last nine. The matchup against Jose Quintana isn't exactly ideal, but Machado comes in with an excellent .422 wOBA against lefties this year.

SHORTSTOP

Trevor Story, COL vs. ARI ($15): Opposing starter Taijuan Walker has allowed 30 home runs in 168 innings since the beginning of last season, and he now has the dreaded task of pitching in Coors Field. Walker has been better against right-handed hitters this season, but he allowed a .345 wOBA to them last year, including 11 home runs.

OUTFIELD

Corey Dickerson, TB vs. TOR ($20): Dickerson is a righty-killer, and he now gets to face off against Joe Biagini, who hasn't pitched more than two innings out of the bullpen this season. Biagini hasn't been great against lefties, allowing a .288 batting average and .725 OPS to them in his career.

Adam Jones, BAL vs. CWS ($15): Batter-versus-pitcher stats are dangerous to use in baseball, but Jones has some intriguing numbers against Jose Quintana. While 12 at-bats is a limited sample, the fact that he has seven hits and two home runs is hard to overlook. This is a guy whose destroyed lefties throughout his career too, as his .780 career OPS against them is an impressive mark.

Delino DeShields, Jr., TEX at SEA ($8): DeShields is averaging 8.4 fantasy points per game in his last 10, all of which came with him in the leadoff spot, and he'll look to extend his solid play against Dillon Overton, who is getting a spot start in place of the injured James Paxton and comes in with a 10.23 ERA in 31.2 big-league innings.
