Closer Watch
Brewers: Milwaukee has officially removed John Axford from the closers role following his sixth blown save of the season on Monday against the Cardinals. Axford currently has a 5.35 ERA on the season, with a 1.68 WHIP as he has struggled mightily with his control. Taking over the closer role for the Brewers will be Francisco Rodriguez. Rodriguez is no stranger to closing, of course, as he was a long-time closer for the Angels and Mets before being traded to Milwaukee last season. Rodriguez has had some struggles of his own this season, but owns a 2.18 ERA in his last 18 games.

Twins: Matt Capps has been experiencing more soreness in his shoulder after just returning from the disabled list due to the injury. He will be examined by team doctors, but will likely be out for at least a few days. Glen Perkins and Jared Burton will continue to split closing duties until Capps returns.

Recommended Pickup
Anthony Gose, OF, TOR: With the injury to Jose Bautista, the Blue Jays have a hole in their outfield. To help fill that, they have called up Gose, Baseball-America's #39 overall prospect entering 2012. The fact that Toronto called him up over former #6 overall prospect Travis Snider, who has been hitting .312/.402/.520 in the minors, says a lot about how much faith the team has in Gose. After garnering such high praise in the offseason, he has only improved his stock with a breakout 2012. In Triple-A for the first time this season, the 21-year-old has hit .292/.375/.432. In his previous four minor league seasons, he kept his batting average between .253 and .262 with a low on-base percentage. Gose could continue his hot hitting in the major leagues and give a decent batting average. He won't add much power, though his value will come mainly from his speed. Gose stole at least seventy bases in two of his past three minor league seasons and already has 29 this season. The Blue Jays have already said he will start on Wednesday and he will probably maintain that role for the near future. For those fantasy owners lacking steals, Gose could be a quick fix while potentially helping with batting average as well.
