Recommended Pickup
Tyler Colvin, OF, COL: After posting an .816 OPS and 20 home runs his rookie season in 2010 with the Cubs, the former Chicago first round pick was supposed to be a mainstay in their outfield. Unfortunately, in 2011, Colvin fell apart and hit just .150/.204/.306 in 222 major league plate appearances. Colvin was then traded in the offseason to Colorado where he has begun to thrive.

Colvin hit well in limited playing time with the Rockies through May, but really started hitting well when he moved into a starting role on June 9. Since that date, he has hit .302/.352/.587 with ten home runs in 52 games. He has been even better in the month of August, with a .352 batting average and .915 OPS. Colvin was supposed to be pushed out of the starting lineup upon Michael Cuddyer's return. However, it now appears as though Cuddyer might miss the rest of the season. That, coupled with Carlos Gonzalez's recent ailments, all but assures Colvin of a starting spot for the rest of 2012.

The only issue with Colvin fantasy-wise has been the lack of home runs recently. He has not hit a homer since July 6, when he hit two against the Nationals. Colvin has been a very streaky power hitter though, and can hit them in bunches when he starts. Keep in mind that Colorado is a very good hitting environment. Colvin could be a real nice pickup for a late season playoff push.

Other Recent Recommendations: Hisashi Iwakuma, Samuel Deduno, Gregor Blanco, Jon Jay, Yonder Alonso
