Closer Watch

Diamondbacks - Addison Reed had a 2-1 lead coming into the bottom of the ninth inning against the Dodgers on Friday, and gave up only one hit which unfortunately was a home run to Juan Uribe that tied the game. Ultimately the Diamondbacks won the game in inning number 12, with Trevor Cahill picking up his first career save in only his second career appearance out of bullpen. Reed has been far from perfect this season, but it was his first blown save of the season, so his spot as the teams closer is probably far from being in question. Cahill had been terrible in his first four starts this year giving up 13 earned runs over 13.2 innings, so maybe this move to the bullpen could at least keep him on the Diamondbacks MLB roster.

Recommended Pickup

Robbie Ross Jr., SP, TEX - It is pretty hard to ignore any starter that has a 1.00 ERA to his name in the world of fantasy baseball, yet Ross is still available in most leagues. There are reasons that many would disregard those numbers especially considering they are only over three starts, with only one of those lasting more than six innings, and that Ross was a reliever his first two seasons with the Rangers, but he should still be considered by any fantasy owner with questions in regards to their starting pitching depth. On the other side of the coin there are many cases over the years of pitchers starting their careers as relievers and then turning into great starters. While Ross may not be the next Johan Santana, there are signs that Ross could stick in the Rangers rotation, and could prove to be a valuable low-cost asset off the waiver wire.

Other Recent Recommendations:Ike Davis, Rajai Davis, Russell Martin, George Springer, and Devin Mesoraco
