Pitcher
Masahiro Tanaka, NYY at CWS ($8.900): It's a steep price to pay for a pitcher who's struggled for much of the season, especially one that has a 6.70 ERA on the road. But Tanaka looks to be finding himself, averaging 42.3 points over his last three starts where he's struck out 27 in 18.2 frames. Chicago's offense has been very hit-or-miss, ranking 27th with a .300 wOBA and 83 wRC+ against righties. Tanaka will face Carlos Rodon, who is making his season debut and didn't fair well during his rehab appearances, and I like Tanaka's chance for a win as a result.
Catcher
Travis d'Arnaud, NYP at MIA ($2,500): d'Arnaud saw a modest six-game hitting streak snapped Monday, but rebounded to launch his second homer in four outings last night. He has thoroughly enjoyed facing lefties this season, owning a .534 wOBA, 239 wRC+ and .455 ISO, giving reason for optimism against Jeff Locke.
First Base
Eric Hosmer, KAN at DET ($3,200): There are plenty of solid options at first Wednesday, but if saving money is the goal, Hosmer looks like a nice option. He leads regulars with a .341 wOBA against lefties, adding a 109 wRC+ and he's been in great form this month (.384 wOBA, 139 wRC+ and .221 ISO). Tigers starter Daniel Norris has a 5.03 ERA at home, where he has allowed lefties to post a .453 wOBA and extra-base hits at an 11.3-percent rate.
Second Base
Jose Pirela, SDP vs. ATL ($2,700): Pirela could be a popular pick that is worth fading. However, given his decent current form (doubles in three straight, hit safely in six of seven) and overall body of work against righties (.385 wOBA, 141 wRC+, .913 OPS), he's difficult to pass up in a juicy matchup against Bartolo Colon, who owns a 7.46 ERA on the road where he's allowed righties to post a .473 wOBA and 1.148 OPS. The Padres don't have the most prolific offense, and their bats are moderately priced as a result, making a stack rather easy to accomplish if you think Colon's struggles will continue.
Third Base
Jake Lamb, ARI vs. STL ($3,700): Lamb's prowess against righties and struggles against lefties are well known, but his .433 wOBA and 164 wRC+ and .298 ISO are well worth reminding managers of in advance of a matchup with Adam Wainwright. Wainwright has alternated solid showings with dismal ones over his last four starts, allowing one, nine, two, and nine runs. He has been more susceptible to righties, but only marginally, and carries a 9.48 road ERA into the contest while allowing lefties to post a .395 wOBA and .937 OPS.
Shortstop
Troy Tulowitzki, TOR vs. BAL ($2,900): Tulo owns a career .396 wOBA and 137 wRC+ against left-handers, and while it's obvious he's in the twilight of his career, I'm willing to overlook his seasonal struggles against lefties given the cheap price tag. He's in a mini-hot streak, going 6-for-13 over his last four games, and is 10-of-25 (.400) with a homer, three doubles, four walks and RBI against starter Wade Miley. Miley has a 5.45 ERA on the road, where he's allowing a .378 wOBA to righties.
Outfield
Andrew McCutchen, PIT at TAM ($3,600): McCutchen has cooled slightly over the last week or so, but it's simply pushed his price into a more affordable range with continued upside. He's owned lefties this season, pushing out a .488 wOBA, 208 wRC+, .393 ISO and 1.205 OPS across 60 plate appearances. Rays' starter Blake Snell returns from a brief demotion to Triple-A, but had a 5.40 ERA at home and allowed a .361 wOBA to righties prior to being sent down.
Khris Davis, OAK at HOU ($3,600):Davis has five multi-hit games in his last nine outings, driving in seven and scoring four times in that span. All but one of his 19 big flies have come against right handers, whom he owns a .368 wOBA and 135wRC+ against. Astros' starter David Paulino is allowing righties a 41 percent hard hit rate and a 51.3 percent flyball rate, with 15 percent of those fly balls leaving the yard.
Keon Broxton, MIL at CIN ($2,900): The always streaking Broxton is currently in the midst of a great run, owning a .501 wOBA, 210 wRC+ and 1.204 OPS against righties in his last night games while stealing four bases for good measure. He'll face rookie Luis Castillo who is making his second career start after allowing two homers and 10 batters to reach in his first 5.0 career innings.
