FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Welcome back to another edition of our FanDuel Value Picks of the Day. Wednesday's contests include eight games which will provide all sorts of different options to choose from. The new season has brought us many surprises up to this point (Astros and Mets leading their divisions), and we've seen a lot of new young stars emerge as legitimate big league players. It's still early, but 2015 is shaping up to be yet another exciting year in Major League Baseball. Below are some players at each position that should provide your roster some good value on Wednesday.

Starting Pitcher:
Bartolo Colon, $8,400 - Colon has been absolutely brilliant up to this point as he enters Wednesday's contest against the Marlins with a 2.77 ERA over 26 innings pitched. He's already won four games and possibly the most impressive statistic is the 23 strikeouts to just one walk. The Mets hold the best record in baseball and they get a nice matchup against a struggling Marlins team on Wednesday. Colon should have a good shot to notch win number five.

Catcher:
A.J. Pierzynski, $2,600 - The Braves catcher went 4-4 on Tuesday in a losing effort to bring his season average up to .378. He's hit three home runs and drove in eight runs over the course of the young season and he's clearly seeing the ball well right now. We'd expect him to be back in the Braves lineup after his impressive performance yesterday, but it's worth checking on in the early afternoon. Another solid option would be Stephen Vogt ($3,100).

First Base:
Justin Morneau, $3,400 - Morneau was the NL batting champion just a year ago, but he got off to a slow start early on in the year. However, Tuesday marked Morneau's fourth straight multi-hit game as he's really starting to heat up. The Rockies will see right-hander Josh Collmenter on Wednesday, and Morneau feasts on righties over the course of his career. Other solid options include Freddie Freeman ($3,200) and Billy Butler ($2,900).

Second Base:
Neil Walker, $3,100 - Walker carried a ten game hitting streak into Tuesday's matchup, but saw it snapped as he finished 0-3 in a loss to the Cubs. He should have a nice matchup against right-handed Kyle Hendricks on Wednesday who enters with a 5.74 ERA over his first 15.2 innings. We like walker to get back on track at Wrigley.

Third Base:
David Freese, $2,900- With the Angles starting off the year slower than expected, Freese has been one of the bright spots in the lineup as of late. He's hit safely in seven of his last ten games which included a game winning home run on Saturday. Freese is showing to be a solid third basemen so far with nine runs score and 15 RBI's despite just a .218 average. He's a solid pick today, and should continue to drive in runs in the middle of the Angels lineup.

Shortstop:
Jhonny Peralta, $2,700- Peralta is off to a great start this year, as one of the most productive offensive shortstops in the game. Only 19 games in Peralta is hitting a solid .320 with two home runs and 10 RBIs. Peralta batted third in the Cardinal's solid lineup on Sunday which proves that Manager Mike Matheny likes what he sees as well. Peralta's had multiple hits in three of his last five games, and he'll look to stay hot against the Phillies on Sunday as the Cardinals look to extend their division lead.

Outfielders:
Andrew McCutchen, $4,000 - With Pittsburgh struggling at the start of the year, they'll look to McCutchen to turn their luck around. McCutchen has shown some encouraging signs the last few days after his early-season knee issues. Despite a .179 average up to this point, he's still scored 11 runs and drove in 11 runs to go along with two long balls. McCutchen will get that same matchup against Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs that teammate Neil Walker will see, and we expect the all-star outfielder to turn it around for the Bucs.

Joc Pederson, $3,300 - Pederson has been a solid surprise for the Dodgers so far this season, and he had another big night on Tuesday. Pederson went 2 for 3 with a double and a solo bomb, which brought his average to .296. He's scored 12 runs, hit three long balls, and drove in nine RBI's. The Dodgers play at home on Wednesday in a matchup against right-hander Ryan Vogelsong of the Giants. Vogelsong enters with a 7.71 ERA so far this season, so Pederson should have a juicy matchup.

Josh Reddick, $3,300 - Reddick had two more hits on Tuesday against the Angels including his second home run of the spring. Reddick holds a .360 average over 50 at-bats up to this point, with six runs scored and 11 RBI, despite starting the season on the disabled list. Over his last seven games he's posted a .526 average with six of those RBI's. Reddick will take on Matt Shoemaker on Wednesday, who's been banged up so far this year. He enters with a 6.46 ERA over three starts. Look for Reddick to stay hot Wednesday night.

Be sure to check the early afternoon notes on players to assure everyone is in the lineup before selecting them to your FanDuel roster. Good Luck!
