FanDuel MLB: Thursday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Thursday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Jaime Garcia, ATL vs SF ($8,000) – Garcia has been very steady this season with at least 20 fantasy points in all of his last six starts (30 in five of his last six). The Giants have been one of the weaker offenses this season with .291 wOBA against left-handed pitching (fifth worst in the majors) and their ISO is tied with the Angels for the worst in baseball at .118.

Catcher

Mike Zunino, SEA vs DET ($3,300) –After a .368 wOBA against lefties last season, Zunino's followed it up with a .380 mark this year. He's scored at least 25.7 fantasy points in four of his last seven games and those splits vs lefties the last two seasons have been even better at home.

First Base

Edwin Encarnacion, CLE at BAL ($4,200) – The Indians collectively are a great target going up against a soft-tossing lefty in Wade Miley. Miley has come back to earth after a hot start and has given up 15 earned runs in his last 10.2 innings (his last three starts). E5 has 1.521 OPS over his last 14 games and has a .401 wOBA against southpaws in 2017 after a .386 mark last season.

Second Base

Kelby Tomlinson, SF at ATL ($2,600) – Tomlinson has a .345 wOBA for his career against left-handed pitching and Jaime Garcia will be toeing the rubber. Garcia has been solid but this is a case of banking on a punt play based on their stats.

Shortstop

Johan Camargo, ATL vs SF ($2,600) – Camargo has hit the ground running, scoring 12.7, 15.9, 15.9 and 24.7 fantasy points in his last three games — missing the cycle by a home run in his last. Matt Cain has been terrible this season with a 4.99 ERA that actually doesn't match the inflated 1.69 WHIP. This is a good matchup for the rookie.

Third Base

Wilmer Flores, NYM at LAD ($2,800) – Flores comes in at an ownership in both cash and GPPs less than 20 percent. His wOBA away this season against lefties is .465 and last season that mark was .468.

Outfield

Kike Hernandez LAD vs NYM ($2,300)Chris Taylor and a few other Dodgers are in play tonight, but Hernandez provides the best punt option out of the lefties for Los Angeles. He's hitting left-handed pitching to the tune of a .428 wOBA and has a career .375 mark. Steven Matz is making his first start off the DL and Hernandez should find himself hitting high in the batting order.

Albert Almora Jr., CHC at MIA ($2,300) – Almora's defense has shadowed how good he's been on offense this season, and against lefty Jeff Locke he should find himself hitting in the No. 6 spot tonight. He owns a .439 wOBA against left-handed pitching this season, a stat that goes to .507 on the road. Locke is a soft-tossing lefty who has a 4.49 ERA or worse in each of his last three campaigns.

Guillermo Heredia, SEA vs DET ($2,700) – There are a few different Mariners to consider tonight and it's a good idea to run a stack with different combinations in GPPs. Guillermo has a .354 wOBA this season against southpaws and has a decent matchup tonight at Safeco against Daniel Norris, who is giving up a .347 wOBA on the road to right-handed hitters. Of course, Nelson Cruz should be considered a top play tonight in any DFS format.
