PITCHER:
Trevor Bauer, CLE vs. NYY ($9,200): Bauer has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last month, as the former phenom seems to finally be putting his ample talent to good use. Over his last six starts the 25-year-old has been practically un-hittable - 1.48 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 24.5 percent K rate and 7.4 percent walk rate - averaging an insane 45.8 fantasy points per game. In addition, Bauer faces a weak Yankees offense - .310 wOBA, .153 ISO vs. right-handed pitching - and is still priced reasonably, especially considering the (mostly) lackluster batch of pitchers on the board.
CATCHER:
Willson Contreras, CHC vs. ATL ($2,800): Contreras has done nothing but hit since being called up on June 17 (.424 wOBA, .317 ISO), and he has forced manager Joe Maddon to find ways to get him in the lineup every day. The rookie has done most of his damage against right-handed pitching (.431 wOBA, .359 ISO) and faces one in Lucas Harrell, who's rocking a career 4.79 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. And yet, Contreras is priced shockingly low.
FIRST BASE:
Miguel Cabrera, DET at TOR ($3,300): Cabrera is another case where the price jumps off the screen. While Miggy hasn't been the best hitter in baseball like years passed, he's still put up strong numbers (.377 wOBA, .228 ISO) and has been better lately with a .388 wOBA over his last 10 games. Most importantly, Cabrera has crushed right-handers this season (.415 wOBA, .268 ISO) and faces Drew Hutchison in the hitter-friendly confines of the Rogers Centre.
SECOND BASE:
Whit Merrifield, KC vs. SEA ($2,700):Whit Merrifield sounds far more like a blue blood from Martha's Vineyard than a baseball player, yet somehow he ended up the latter. And he's actually been a pretty good player at that, particularly against lefties (.359 batting average, .370 wOBA), and he faces one in James Paxton, who's been atrocious against right-handed batters (.402 wOBA allowed) this season.
THIRD BASE:
Yangervis Solarte, SD at LAD ($3,200): Solarte is quietly having a really nice season for the Padres (.376 wOBA) as he has comfortably inserted himself in the cleanup spot in the lineup. He has been especially potent against left-handed pitching (.375 batting average, .458 wOBA, .250 ISO) and faces Hyun-Jin Ryu, who's a solid pitcher but is making his first major league start since 2014 after missing all of last season with a shoulder injury.
SHORTSTOP:
Troy Tulowitzki, TOR vs. DET ($2,500): This is strictly a case of a player's price being way too low considering how well he's been playing. In the 16 games he's played since returning from the disabled list, Tulo is sporting a beastly .464 wOBA and .390 ISO, while chipping in seven long balls for good measure. Granted, the matchup with Justin Verlander isn't ideal, but Tulowitzki's price is just too low to ignore when his bat is so hot and and he's swinging it in the aforementioned Rogers Centre.
OUTFIELD:
Nelson Cruz, SEA at KC ($3,100): Cruz doesn't age. At least, I don't think he does. He keeps getting "older" but is still putting up monster stats (.382 wOBA, .265 ISO). He has been particularly devastating to left-handed pitchers, with a .458 wOBA and a gaudy .420 ISO against them. And while Danny Duffy is a better lefty than most, he's been significantly less effective against right-handed hitters.
George Springer, HOU vs. OAK ($3,100): Almost everything I said about Cruz applies to Springer. Springer has a tough matchup against Rich Hill, but he's crushed lefties to the tune of a .396 wOBA and .263 ISO. Most of all, at that low price, Springer is just too good of a bargain to pass up. Sometimes it's just that simple.
Melvin Upton Jr., SD at LAD ($3,100): The artist formerly known as B.J. has had a fantasy renaissance this season, showing the power-speed combo (13 home runs, 19 stolen bases) that made him such a good fantasy player only a few short years ago. Upton has been notably successful against left-handed pitching (.347 wOBA, .244 ISO) and faces Ryu who, again, is likely to be rusty. Upton's noted ability to run and to hit the ball out of the park, make him a terrific high-ceiling play for a minimal cost.
