PITCHER
Patrick Corbin, ARI at NYM ($9,400): With the way Corbin is pitching, this is an easy choice. Corbin has 25 strikeouts in his last three starts, hasn't allowed a run in his last two and went 8.2 innings against the Astros last time out. In August, the Mets have the worst numbers in MLB against lefties with a team .236 wOBA and 29.2 K%.
Masahiro Tanaka, NYY at DET ($9,200): Here's another mid-range pitcher I'll throw some money at. Tanaka dealt with shoulder fatigue earlier in the month, but he's rested and ready to roll. The Tigers are much better against lefties, while their .304 wOBA and 23.1 K% against righties in August is near the bottom of the charts. Detroit has also lost five of its last six and is struggling to close the season on a strong note.
CATCHER
Mike Zunino, SEA at ATL ($3,600): Zunino has had an up-and-down season, but has been great lately with a .364 wOBA and .294 ISO in his last 39 plate appearances against righties. And while strikeouts are his main issue, Lucas Sims has a poor 11.3 K% against righties to go with a 4.96 xFIP in his four starts.
FIRST BASE
Chase Headley, NYY at DET ($3,700): Headley has been one of New York's better bats against lefties and gets the call here with a .414 wOBA in his last 31 plate appearances. Matt Boyd doesn't do a ton of things well and has given up at least three runs in his last 13 starts to go with a 5.33 xFIP against righties.
SECOND BASE
Yoan Moncada, CWS vs. MIN ($3,500): After missing a couple days with shin splints, Moncada returned to the lineup Monday and should be good for Tuesday. He's much better against righties with a .416 wOBA and .241 ISO in his last 38 plate appearances. Even better for him, Kyle Gibson isn't huge on strikeouts with a 13.6 K% against lefties to go with a 5.36 xFIP.
THIRD BASE
Cory Spangenberg, SD at STL ($3,500): Spangenberg has cooled off a bit in the last week, but that's still not swaying me from using him at this price against Lance Lynn. The righty hurler may be a great bet to make it six innings, but he still has poor numbers against lefties with a 6.24 xFIP and 14.3 K%. And even after cooling down, Spangenberg has a .472 wOBA and .390 ISO against righties in August.
SHORTSTOP
Jorge Polanco, MIN at CWS ($3,500):Lucas Giolito is supposed to be a stud on the mound for the White Sox, but he didn't display that last year in limited time, getting dropped as a starter after four showings. Polanco has provided a steady bat for most of the season and sports a .392 wOBA in his last 46 plate appearances against righties.
OUTFIELD
Matt Joyce, OAK at BAL ($4,100): Joyce didn't have much success a couple weeks ago against Ubaldo Jimenez, but I'm counting on that to change. Joyce is cracking a .416 wOBA and .436 ISO in his last 43 plate appearances against righties. Jimenez gives up more power to lefties with a .401 wOBA allowed and is coming off a bad outing in which he allowed six runs.
Kyle Schwarber, CHC at CIN ($4,100):Homer Bailey had no answers for the Cubs in his last start, allowing six runs, and there's no reason that will change. Schwarber singled and was walked twice in that game and will try and pounce this time around with a .419 wOBA and .275 ISO in his last 48 plate appearances against righties. As for Bailey, he has a 5.45 xFIP against lefties and has given up 18 runs in his last three starts.
Seth Smith, BAL vs. OAK ($3,700): Here's another lefty that only plays with righties on the mound. Smith doesn't provide Schwarber's power, but he's more consistent and strikes out less to go with a .389 wOBA against righties in August. Paul Blackburn has allowed four runs in each of his last two starts and has a 5.03 xFIP against lefties.
