Arena Football DFS: DraftKings Week 6 Plays

DraftKings' Arena Football League (AFL) contests are back in Week 6 with a full three-game slate. RotoWire will be providing lineup suggestions for each of the 13 weeks of the AFL regular season, the two weeks of the playoffs and the ArenaBowl.

DraftKings AFL lineups consist of one Captain spot, which sees the player's salary and fantasy points both multiply at a rate of 1.5x, and five Flex positions. The lack of positional specifications means that one could potentially compose a lineup consisting of players from just one position. However, for our purposes, we'll strive to highlight players from at least the top two fantasy-producing positions, quarterback and wide receiver.

Note: Please keep in mind that these are merely recommendations on certain players and are not intended to constitute a lineup that fits under DraftKings' $50,000 salary cap. In fact, the cumulative salary of the players suggested weekly will often check in well over that figure.

Week 6 AFL Plays

Captain: Tommy Grady, QB, ALB vs. WAS ($15,000):

Grady has thrown at least five touchdowns in four straight games, a streak that started with a Week 2 outing against the same Valor secondary he'll face Saturday. Grady tallied 30.84 fantasy points in that contest, and he'll be poised for another strong showing in the Week 6 rematch on his home turf. The Captain's spot's 1.5 fantasy point-multiplier could be especially rewarding versus a Valor defense that's allowed the second-most touchdown passes (24), along with the second-highest completion percentage (68.8). Washington has also yielded the highest pass efficiency rating (121.6) in the league, furthering Grady's candidacy as the top play of the week.

Flex: Arvell Nelson, QB, WAS at ALB ($10,600):

Nelson's dual-threat skill set always makes him one of the top quarterback considerations, and Week 6 is no different. The mobile signal-caller did struggle with his efficiency in Week 5 against the Destroyers, completing just over 50.0 percent of his 35 attempts. However, he lit up the Empire for four total touchdowns in Week 2 on his way to 31.7 fantasy points while putting up his second-highest number of pass attempts of the season. Nelson should be heavily involved again in what should be another hotly-contested game, and his robust involvement on the ground (at least eight carries in each of his last three games) should serve as a nice supplement to his overall production, especially since Albany has allowed the second-most rush yards (60) in the AFL.

Flex: Fabian Guerra, WR, CLB at PHL ($10,400):

Guerra has visited the end zone on six occasions over the last two games alone, and he racked up an AFL 2019 single-game-high 202 receiving yards in Week 4 against the Empire. The Fairmont State product is tied for second in the AFL with nine touchdown grabs, and as quarterback Grant Russell's top target, he'll look to add to that total against a Soul defense that's already allowed the most scores through the air (25) in the AFL. Guerra has no fewer than five grabs in any game, and despite his price being considerably elevated, a multi-touchdown outing is well within his reach versus the porous Philadelphia secondary.

Flex: Malachi Jones, WR, ALB vs. WAS ($9,800):

Jones has been one of the surest DFS bets through the first five weeks. Jones has a whopping 22 receptions and 285 receiving yards in the last two games alone, along with multiple touchdown grabs in four straight games. Zooming out to a season-long view, Jones boasts 11 total touchdown receptions, second only to the Destroyers' Guerra. Jones totaled 33.1 fantasy points on the strength of a 6-119-2 line against the Valor in Week 2, and Washington's multiple poor pass defense metrics were already cited in Grady's entry. One additional number enhancing Jones' appeal is the league-high 8.3 yards per attempt the Valor allows, which dovetails well for fantasy purposes with Jones' 14.1 yards per grab, the second-highest figure in the league.

Flex: Dan Raudabaugh, QB, PHL vs. CLB ($8,600): Raudabaugh's price continues to hold steady despite the veteran quarterback's week-to-week consistency. The Soul signal-caller scored 28.1 to 40.5 fantasy points in Weeks 2-4, and even in a down week against the Brigade in Week 5, he still generated a solid 20.4 fantasy points. The Destroyers could make for excellent targets in Week 6, considering they've allowed the second-highest completion percentage (67.5) in the AFL. Columbus has also yielded 20 passing touchdowns and 237.0 passing yards per game, the latter checking in as the third-highest figure in the league. Raudabaugh has averaged 26.8 fantasy points over two home games this season while completing 64.6 percent of his throws, and the combination of his price and the matchup make him an excellent mid-tier option under center Saturday.

Flex: Grant Russell, WR, CLB at PHL ($6,800):

On the other side of the matchup, Russell is priced at a deep discount for a quarterback and at a price point on which he's offered nice returns this season on multiple occasions. In four full games this season, Russell has eclipsed 20 fantasy points twice and has scored no fewer than 18.72 fantasy points in any of those contests. Russell has a solid 15:5 TD:INT as well and has displayed strong rapport with capable pass catchers Fabian Guerra, Jenson Stoshak and Julian Lowe, the latter whose 2019 Week 5 debut consisted of a 7-56 line. As detailed in Guerra's entry earlier, the Soul have been vulnerable to the pass throughout the first five weeks of the season, including allowing the second-highest yards per attempt (7.9).
