Career comes to an end in loss
Ablett finished with 12 disposals (four kicks, eight handballs), one tackle and one mark in Saturday's 81-50 Grand Final loss to the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
The career of one of the best to ever play the game came to an end Saturday as the Cats fell short in the season finale. Ablett suffered what looked to be a dislocated shoulder early in the game but returned to close out the match. He was clearly bothered by the injury throughout the entire duration but battled on, demonstrating his greatness despite the loss. Although it was not the end he had been hoping for, the dual Brownlow medallist will go down as a true legend of the game and a credit to both himself and his family.

Stars in win
Ablett scored two goals and logged two behinds to go with 14 disposals (eight kicks, six handballs) during Saturday's 82-42 win over Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Ablett has seldom done much all season but he ratcheted up his play to a higher level during a huge win over the Lions. He'll hope to play a big role in the first Grand Final since 2011 for the Cats.

Steady going in return
Ablett finished with 16 disposals (11 kicks, five handballs), two marks, one tackle, one goal and one behind in Sunday's 69-63 victory over the Swans.
ANALYSIS
Ablett returned for the Cats after missing the last two months due to personal reasons. There was some obvious rust for the champion midfielder but he will certainly be better for the run with the Cats now facing a top-four clash with either the Power or the Lions to open up the finals.

Set for Sept. 20 return
Ablett will return for the Cats' regular-season finale versus the Tigers on Sept. 20, Mitch Cleary of the AFL's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Ablett left the team to be with his family in mid-July but has decided to rejoin the Cats ahead of the team's finals run. He will presumably get a game in against Sydney to knock off some of the rust ahead of the finals.

Leaves team
Ablett (personal) left the team Saturday to be with his family, David McPherson of GeelongCats.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ablett flew home to Victory to be with his family following the recent diagnosis of his son Levi with a rare and degenerative disease. General Manager Simon Lloyd said Saturday that the team is is full support of Ablett, and it's uncertain when he'll return, as they will have to take the absence day-by-day.

Best on ground in victory
Ablett recorded 21 disposals (nine kicks, 12 handballs), three tackles, two marks, two goals and one behind during Friday's 108-47 victory over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Along with the veteran Geelong midfield, Ablett put on a masterclass as the Cats outscored the Hawks by 55 points in the second half. After an extended layoff, Ablett returned to action with a noticeably different look, something that appears to have worked wonders for the 36-year-old. Playing in what is likely his last season, Ablett will be keen to go out a winner and should continue racking up solid numbers on a weekly basis.
