Falls victim to guillotine choke in Round 2
Brooks was defeated by Nik Lentz via submission (guillotine choke) at 2:05 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night 121 on Saturday in Australia.
ANALYSIS
Will Brooks started out strong in this fight. He took Lentz down early in the first round, but "The Carny" immediately began to work for a guillotine choke. Brooks was able to spin out, and seemed to have the advantage standing for the remainder of the round. In the second round, Brooks used an effective lead uppercut and a jab. Over the course of the round he was able to hurt Lentz's eye, and seemed to be finding his stride in the fight. However, he once again took Lentz down. Lentz once again snatched up a guillotine, secured guard, and Brooks ultimately tapped to the submission.

ANALYSIS
Brooks showed up Friday morning and made the 156-pound lightweight limit, but he won't get to fight on Saturday after all. It's a tough break for Brooks, who had been looking to bounce back from a two-fight losing streak. It's unclear whether or not this fight will be rescheduled at a later date.

Bounceback opportunity at UFC 216
Brooks will take on Nik Lentz at UFC 216 on Oct. 7 in Las Vegas, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brooks may have been victorious in his UFC debut, but the former Bellator Lightweight Champion has since sputtered, losing back-to-back fights. He'll look to get back on track with a matchup against the 32-year-old Lentz, a veteran that has been with the promotion since 2009. Win or lose, Brooks would still have a long road ahead of him to get to the top of the UFC's 155-pound division.

Taps out to Charles Oliveira at UFC 210
Brooks lost to Charles Oliveira via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:30 of Round 1 at UFC 210 on Saturday in Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
The issue here isn't Brooks tapping out to an Oliveira RNC -- that would happen to most anyone on the planet. The issue is the fact he allowed Do Bronx to score an easy trip takedown that put him in that position. Brooks fired off a couple of quick kicks early on that landed, but he never was able to get into the flow of the fight. There are plenty of fighters from other organizations who come into the UFC and struggle, but there was no indication that Brooks would be one of them. He was a former lightweight champion in Bellator, and he entered the UFC with an undefeated record. He has since gone 1-2 and has lost back-to-back fights. Brooks' pedigree says that better days are ahead, but he better get his act together in a hurry.
