Jungwirth has retired from professional soccer, his last club Vancouver announced Friday, and he is now set to join the Whitecaps' coaching staff.
ANALYSIS
Jungwirth is ending a 15-year senior career in which he played for six different clubs across Germany and the United States. He made 109 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga with Dynamo Dresden, VfL Bochum and SV Darmstadt from 2011-15, before moving to MLS with San Jose, where he scored five goals with nine assists in 131 games across all competitions mostly in central defense. He later moved to Vancouver and won the 2022 Canadian Cup with the team before announcing his retirement on his 34th birthday on Friday.
