Iniesta has announced his retirement from professional football, the Spanish legend announced via Twitter.

Iniesta brought many football fans to tears Monday, with the legendary midfielder announcing he was hanging up the boots after 22 years of play. He will go down not only as a Spain and Barcelona legend but a legend of the game as a whole, being one of the best ball distributors and having some of the highest football IQs of all time. He appeared in 885 matches over his career, notching 93 goals and 161 assists at the club level, winning numerous trophies with Barcelona. More importantly, he helped Spain to a World Cup win in 2010, scoring the winning goal in that match, adding to 14 goals in 131 matches on the national stage. In the end, Iniesta will go down as an all-time great people will tell their kids about, taking home 38 trophies in a career defined by hard work and perseverance.
