Fast Xfinity Practice at Daytona
XFINITY Series
February 17, 2023
Snider was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the Beef. It's What's For Dinner 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 187.637 mph.
ANALYSIS
The first Xfinity Series practice of the season would see one Toyota driver upset a number of strong Chevrolets in this lone practice at Daytona. Snider would lead the way by edging Brandon Jones for the fastest lap of the 2.5-mile oval. His No. 19 Toyota appears to be very strong, so Sinder is a good bet to challenge the Top 5 Saturday in the 300-mile season-opener at Daytona.

This growing race team snagged an up-and-coming prospect in the form of Snider for 2022. Jordan Anderson Racing featured a variety of drivers last year, but they did manage to collect reasonably good results. The collective nabbed one Top-5 and six Top-10 finishes in just 23 starts last season. Snider has been brought in to be the full-time pilot of the No. 31 Chevrolet. He's spent the last two seasons racing in this division of NASCAR with owner Richard Childress. Last year he nabbed his first-career victory (Homestead) and 11 Top-10 finishes. This team has good sponsorship and funding, and they receive most of their technical support from Richard Childress Racing. Snider is talented, but it will be difficult to hold onto all the performance he had last year with RCR.
Richard Childress Racing is gearing up for a big season, and Snider is a big part of their growth plans. The 26-year-old prospect got his first taste of full-time Xfinity Series action in 2020. Snider showed improvement over the course of the year, and eventually wound up with six Top-10 finishes in his campaign spread between a couple different teams. It will be a much more stable situation in 2021, and the No. 21 Chevrolet team is poised to run the full schedule with their wealth of resources. We should see Snider take some major steps in the upcoming season. Considering how competitive this division of NASCAR is currently, it would be a tall order to expect Snider to contend for wins. However, he should dramatically improve his Top-10 totals and show further growth and performance.
This three driver team will consist primarily of Snider and Alfredo's efforts. While at the time of this writing the number of starts has not been announced, it would make sense that Snider gets the majority of the starts. Alfredo signed with the team last December and will likely start about a third of the schedule. Cup Series veteran Dillon will only make a couple starts for this race team. The No. 21 RCR Chevrolet team has a strong recent history and good resources. Snider and Alfredo's lack of experience in Xfinity cars is a bit concerning, but this strong race team should help ease this transition for both. They should get stronger as the season wears on.
Snider made a pretty big splash in his full-time debut last season. He raced the No. 13 Ford to three Top-5 and eight Top-10 finishes, and came home a surprising ninth in the final driver standings. Consistency was good with this driver and team, but they didn't lead a lot of laps (55 for the season) and consequently weren't in the running to win any races. Snider and crew chief, Rich Lushes, will look to improve in their second season together, and they almost certainly will with ThorSport equipment and support. This driver is one of the up-and-coming faces in the sport, and he just needs more seat time.
Right now this is an empty seat, however, it is for one of the stronger multi-truck teams in the series. ThorSport Racing had Cody Coughlin in this ride last season, but he struggled to achieve much success. He raced to just three Top-10 finishes during the year and wound up a distant 13th in the final driver standings. This team has a good amount of potential as driver Cameron Hayley showed in 2015 and 2016. He piloted this same truck to consecutive campaigns of 11 and 13 Top-10 finishes. It's that potential that makes this an intriguing team for the upcoming season. However, any success is going to be directly tied to whatever free agent driver they sign to pilot the team's truck. - February Update - Snider has signed to race the full season with ThorSport in the No. 13 Ford truck.
