Hailie Deegan

23-Year-Old Driver
HMD Motorsports
2024 Fantasy Outlook
After three seasons in the trucks, Deegan makes the jump to the Xfinity Series in the upcoming season. She has signed with AM Racing to pilot the team's No. 15 Ford full-time. AMR has tabbed veteran crew chief, Joe Williams, to lead Deegan's first Xfinity Series campaign. This growing team can give her a good start in this division of NASCAR, but a lot of the burden to perform is going to fall on Deegan's shoulders. The Xfinity Series is a much more competitive division than the trucks and she'll notice that almost immediately. Deegan only accrued five Top-10 finishes in 69 tuck series starts, so the learning curve will be unforgiving and steep given her mediocre performance in the Craftsman Truck Series. She's a driver to watch closely in the opening weeks of the upcoming season. Read Past Outlooks

IRL
October 15, 2024
After making her way through the ranks of dirt racing and stock car racing, Deegan will shift her focus to open-wheel racing in 2025, competing in INDY NXT by Firestone with HMD Motorsports, Motorsport.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Deegan will move from NASCAR to IndyCar's developmental league in the 2025 season. She'll pilot a car for HMD Motorsports, the team's No. 38 entry. "I am excited about the opportunity and look forward to working with a proven program in HMD Motorsports," Deegan said. "I have much to learn, but I am ready to go. The team brings a wealth of knowledge for me to pull from, and I look forward to soaking up as much of that as possible before my race debut next March in St. Petersburg."

Deegan's first two seasons with David Gilliland Racing didn't go quite as well as planned. She nabbed just two Top 10's last year and finished a distant 21st-place in the driver standings. Deegan looks to hit the reset button on her racing career and makes the move to ThorSport Racing in 2023. This strong team will field the No. 13 Ford for her in the full schedule. Deegan showed a lot of talent and potential in her racing in the lower divisions of NASCAR. She'll look to rediscover that talent with this good race team in the truck series. Deegan will be paired with crew chief Rich Lushes and the two will look to push up the driver standings this season with multiple Top-10 efforts.
So Deegan's rookie campaign didn't go quite as well as expected, however, there was some improvement over the course of last season. She would earn her lone Top-10 finish in late August at Gateway, and she would labor to just four Top-15 finishes for the season. Deegan will get the chance to hit the reset button in 2022 and show what she learned from a tough first season. Deegan returns to the No. 1 DGR team and veteran crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. Sponsorship is solid with Monster Energy returning to help fund the team. Deegan has a lot to prove in season two, and a lot of pressure on the line. However, we believe she has the fortitude to respond.
One of the most anticipated debuts in the Camping World Truck Series this season is prospect Deegan. She dipped her toes into the truck series pool last year with just one start, but Deegan will get a full schedule of action in 2021 and race for Rookie of the Year. Deegan has been tearing up the ARCA Menards Series and K&N Pro Series West for the past three seasons. Now 19-years-old, she's ready to take the next steps in her NASCAR racing development. Deegan is tabbed to drive the No. 1 Ford for DGR this season. She will partner with crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. and his 300+ starts and 23-career truck series victories of experience. Deegan has obvious talent, gives great feedback on the car and is a quick study behind the wheel. We're being somewhat reserved with a ranking of 17th-place in the pre-season, but the sky truly is the limit for this driver and team.
Signed a driver development deal with Ford Performance. Has been slated to race the entire 2020 ARCA Series schedule with DGR Crosley. Truck Series starts will be coming in the near future.
