Brett Moffitt

32-Year-Old Driver
AM Racing
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Moffitt enjoyed some reasonable success with this small, but growing team last year. He piloted the team's No. 25 Ford to nine Top-10 finishes and a decent 15th-place showing in the final driver standings. The veteran driver now has over 250 combined starts between NASCAR's top three touring series and that experience shows each time Moffitt suits up. The team grows to two full-time entries as Hailie Deegan comes on board for 2024. Moffitt will look to be a mentor and adviser to her as her racing development continues. At the same time, Moffitt will not only look to hold onto the impressive gains he made last season but possibly expand upon that performance. A good handful of Top 10 and Top 15 efforts should be expected. Read Past Outlooks
Wins Love's RV Stop 250
Craftsman Truck Series
September 30, 2023
Moffitt won the Love's RV Stop 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway Saturday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
While Moffitt would lead 22 total laps and exert his strength in this 250-mile race, it would take a last-lap pass to decide this one. A late caution and red flag would set up NASCAR overtime and Moffitt would pass Corey Heim on the last lap to secure the win. It was his first victory of the season and 13th-career truck series win.

Over the past three seasons, Moffitt has been making the transition from the Craftsman Truck Series to racing mostly in the Xfinity Series. He's bounced around at different teams, and the lack of continuity has hurt his overall performance. Moffitt is a multi-time winner and past champion in the truck series, so talent is unquestionable. However, it's been tough for him to make the transition with a high level of performance to the Xfinity Series. He'll be starting with another new race team this year as AM Racing is looking to expand and have tabbed Moffitt to be their anchor in the driver's seat. With just five Top-10 finishes all of last season in the Xfinity Series, Moffitt is looking to hit the reset button this year. However, it will be a tall task getting traction anytime soon with a new race team.
Our Motorsports is in rapid growth mode, and it's a good thing they have a veteran like Moffitt to head up their flagship entry. This will be season three for the veteran driver with this team, and they've gotten a little bit better with each season. We don't expect that trend line to break in 2022. Moffitt collected 10 Top-10 finishes last season and wound up 21st-place in the driver points. We expect modest improvements in the upcoming season as the team expands from two to three cars and adds driving talents, Jeb Burton and Anthony Alfredo. Moffitt has the driving ability to win races, and he'll be paired with new crew chief, Jeff Hensley for this season. The veteran driver ended last season with Top 10's in two of the last three races and that's a good look going into 2022.
Moffitt saw a modest downturn in stats last season. His one-win and 16 Top-10 finish campaign was a bit below the bars set in the prior two seasons. Moffitt and GMS Racing parted ways at the end of 2020 and now he'll race for Niece Motorsports in their No. 45 entry. Moffitt has won races and finished inside the Top 3 of the standings for two different race teams the last three seasons, so the move isn't too much cause for concern. The 28-year-old veteran is in the prime of his racing career and should win races and challenge for championships with any good race team. Niece will pair Moffitt with crew chief Phil Gould. Gould led Ross Chastain to a three-win, 18 Top-10 finish and runner-up to the truck series title in 2019, so he knows what it takes to win. The duo of Moffitt and Gould should prove to be a great combination in the upcoming season.
The 2018 Truck Series champion was unable to successfully defend his title last year, but he still had a dominant season. Moffitt racked up four victories and near-carbon copy of 13 Top-5 and 17 Top-10 finishes to his championship season of two years ago. The GMS Racing star would make the championship 4 round of the playoffs and race for the title at Homestead, but would pull up short finishing fifth-place in the season finale. With more laps led and a slightly better average finish than 2018, you could make the argument that Moffitt was better last year. He'll be paired with a new crew chief this season, Chad Norris, but there's little concern with the change. Moffitt is an elite level talent, and he'll win multiple races and challenge for the championship once again in 2020.
Moffitt shocked the NASCAR world when he marched to six victories and ran away with the truck series championship crown at Homestead last November. He did it with the relatively new Hattori Racing, who was competing in just their second full-time season in the Gander Outdoors Truck Series. The even more shocking development was the team had to let Moffitt go at the end of the season due to sponsorship issues. However, the young driver landed solidly on his feet at GMS Racing. He will take over the reins of the strong No. 24 Chevy Silverado and look to defend his title in 2019. Moffitt will be teamed with crew chief Jerry Baxter and they will be the outfit to beat right out of the gates this season.
Signed in early February with Hattori Racing to pilot the team's No. 16 Toyota Tundra full-time in 2018.
As of mid-January it's not been announced that Moffitt is taking over the No. 11 RHR Toyota, but it is expected. Moffitt filled in brilliantly for Matt Tifft in this truck last year when he was sidelined with a brain tumor. In just six starts he picked up a victory (Michigan) and four Top-10 finishes. That certainly got our attention and the attention of the owners at Red Horse Racing. Moffitt has become a journeyman driver in NASCAR, with starts across all three top touring divisions the last four seasons. He'd love a full-time gig with this well-equipped race team. It would seem to be a marriage made in heaven, and we expect it to happen. If so, the potential for wins and Top-10 finishes is obvious.
Moffitt wasn't really expected to make his Sprint Cup Series debut in 2015, but Brian Vickers' blood clots and inconsistency in the No. 34 FRM team ushered in the young driver to an unexpected rookie campaign. Moffitt debuted in the second race of the season at Atlanta and recorded a shocking eighth-place finish in the No. 55 Toyota. While that would be the only top-10 finish of his season, his flashes of brilliance throughout the year bolstered expectations and opportunities to continue racing. With Michael Waltrip Racing folding at the end of last season, it leaves Moffitt a bit up in the air going forward. He was a developmental driver for that organization and now he's a free agent as we enter 2016. This talented, young driver will certainly land some part-time or full-time opportunities to race going forward.
