Brennan Poole

Poole is currently a free agent driver entering the 2022 NASCAR season.

The rookie campaign in 2020 was an up-and-down affair for Poole. He did manage one Top-10 finish (Talladega) in the fall of last season, but was otherwise learning on the job. A total of nine DNFs would hinder his progress in the standings and Poole would wind up 32nd-place at season's end. The average finish for the campaign would check in at a lofty 29.5. Poole will return to the No. 15 Chevrolet of Rick Ware Racing this season. He'll once again be paired with veteran crew chief Pat Tryson. This small race team and young driver will once again face many challenges to climbing the ladder. However, the bright spot on the schedule will always be the superspeedway ovals of Daytona and Talladega. Poole grabbed finishes of 16th-, 35th-, 15th- and ninth-place on these tracks, so he does provide some fantasy racing utility to that end.

December news brought us word that Poole would be joining the very deep rookie class in 2020. He comes to the No. 15 Chevrolet team of Premium Motorsports and be partnered with veteran crew chief, Pat Tryson. Ross Chastain spent most of last season racing in this car, but Poole will get it for the full campaign this season. The young Texan only raced a half-schedule in the Truck Series last year, but put up some respectable results with four Top 10's in just 13 starts for a very small team in that racing series. Poole has just 83-career Xfinity Series starts to his credit, so he's a bit thin in the experience category. He'll set off on his first Cup Series action of his career this season. There will be many struggles and lessons in his near future.

Signed late in the off-season with On Point Motorsports. Will race the full Gander Outdoors Truck Series schedule in the team's No. 30 Toyota Tundra. This is a very new race team, and is going from part to full-time in 2019. Poole's experience should help them to be competitive.

At the time of this writing, no plans have been officially announced for Poole in 2018. It's been rumored that he could be heading to the Cup Series and Richard Childress Racing, but that's yet to be confirmed. Ranking Poole will be a bit speculative because of this. However, if he does return for a full-season stint in CGR's No. 48 Chevrolet, he'll carry some pretty good value. The young Texan has raced the last two seasons in the Xfinity Series for this team and posted identical numbers in each season of four Top-5 and 17 Top-10 finishes. That has led to eighth- and sixth-place points finishes respectively. He's not really displayed the skill nor speed to challenge for wins, but this solid race team has performed pretty consistently under Poole's direction.

Poole will return to the No. 48 Chevrolet of Chip Ganassi Racing this season. The young driver posted modestly good numbers with this team in 2016. Poole got stronger as last season wore on, and he'd wind up with four Top-5 and 17 Top-10 finishes. The performance was good enough for an impressive eighth-place finish in the final driver standings. Now with 50-career starts in the Xfinity Series, the 25-year-old driver is one of the more seasoned young talents in this division of NASCAR. At the end of the day Poole's potential is only limited by how far Ganassi equipment can carry him, but he would appear to be a driver on the verge of a possible break out. Poole will once again have Chad Norris' guidance from atop the war wagon as he takes his next steps in driver development.

This team's plans have not been announced, but we'd imagine a similar schedule and driver lineup as last year for the upcoming season. Larson and Poole split this team with Justin Marks in 2015 and put up one win (Larson) and 12 Top-10 finishes. They fell somewhat short of expectations, but that's likely due to the youthful nature of the driver lineup. Mike Shiplett should return at crew chief and guide this team in 2016, probably to some better performances. Larson and Poole only have a combined 92 starts of experience in this racing series, so they should continue to improve going forward.
