Loses as UFC contract expires
Alves lost to Tim Means via submission (Guillotine Choke) at 2:38 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Washington D.C.

Alves' inability to defend himself on the feet was again his undoing. Allowing Means to land essentially everything he threw, the Brazilian never had a prayer of getting to his offense. Alves was a decent fighter back in the day, but he has been a shell of his former self for years. Sporting a 1-4 record in his past five fights dating back to April 2017, Alves is clearly nearing the end of the line if he isn't there already.
