To welcome Jake Matthews to Singapore
Anzai will take on Jake Matthews in a welterweight matchup at UFC Singapore on June 23, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Anzai has only three UFC fights to his name, and has absorbed more significant strikes than he has landed over that span despite a 2-1 record. He has yet to be taken down while in the UFC, but that streak will soon be in jeopardy, as Matthews has recorded multiple takedowns in each of his last three bouts. Even though Matthews is only 23 years old, Anzai will be at a disadvantage in the experience department, in addition to conceding four inches in height and three inches in reach.

Uses a high pressure attack to defeat "The Jedi" via unanimous decision
Anzai defeated Luke Jumeau via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Japan.
ANALYSIS
Anzai brought a high pressure attack to the Octagon at the Saitama Super Arena. From the opening bell he walked forward and threatened with takedown attacks and creative strikes. He was able to rock Jumeau at the midpoint of the first round, and the strike likely secured the first round for the Japanese fighter as the rest of the round was very close. A takedown in the second round likely secured the victory for Anzai as he was able to stay on top of "The Jedi" for the second half of the round. Although "Animal" began to show signs of fatigue in the third round, he was able to survive without being finished to win the unanimous decision.

Shinsho Anzai: Easily Handles Roger Zapata In Japan
Anzai defeated Roger Zapata via TKO at 0:43 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Saitama, Japan.
ANALYSIS
Anzai was well on his way to winning a decision, but the finish came when Zapata appeared to break a finger on a punch attempt and could not continue. Anzai continuously forced Zapata up along the fence and racked down numerous takedowns. He also absorbed virtually no punishment. He's still just roster depth, but it was a nice effort in front of the hometown crowd.
