Falls for second straight fight
Moraes lost to Andre Fili via KO (punches) at 3:07 in Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Moraes is a perfectly competent 135-pounder, but he had no prayer on this night against a pumped up Fili competing in his hometown. Instead of trying to slow the pace down and take advantage of Fili's aggressiveness, Moraes decided to go toe-to-toe with his opponent and he came up on the short end. Moraes is a better fighter than his 2-3 record with the UFC would lead you to believe, but he needs to get his act together his next time out. Three straight setbacks could very easily lead to a release.

Set to fight in July
Moraes will battle Andre Fili in a featherweight matchup at UFC Sacramento on July 13th, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Moraes will hope to bounce back after losing to Sadiq Yusuff by unanimous decision back in March, which dropped his UFC record to 2-2. He'll be giving up two inches in reach and three inches in height to Fili, who last defeated Myles Jury by decision in February. Fili also has superior wrestling and volume striking numbers despite a larger sample size. Neither man has been able to find finishing power of late, however, so it's not the most attractive matchup from a fantasy standpoint.

Battles hard in decision loss to Sodiq Yusuff
Moraes lost to Sodiq Yusuff via unanimous decision (27-29, 27-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 2 on Saturday in Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
A physical battle in which both men looked pretty good, Moraes ate one monster shot midway through Round 3 that sent crumbling to the mat and that ended any chance he had of earning the judge's decision. Although Moraes lost the unofficial total strike battle by a count of 99-to-58, this fight was very close until the closing minutes. Moraes has a bright future despite Saturday's setback. His three career losses have come against Yusuff, Zabit Magomedsharipov, and Marlon Moraes.

Paired against Sodiq Yusuff

ANALYSIS
After losing his UFC debut against Zabit Magomedsharipov back in 2017, Moraes has won two straight fights with the promotion, with decision victories over Matt Sayles and Julio Arce. His opponent, Yusuff, will be making his second career UFC appearance after beating Suman Mokhtarian by first-round TKO in December.
