Moraes (head) was released by the UFC on Monday, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Moraes entered 2019 with an 8-1-1 record in his last 10 fights, but he struggled mightily over the calendar year by dropping each of his three fights. He most recently lost to James Krause via KO (punch), which resulted in him facing a six-month medical suspension. The 37-year-old is 14-6-1 over his MMA career.

Moraes (head) is facing a six-month medical suspension pending clearance from a neurologist, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Moraes dropped his third straight fight to James Krause via KO (punch) at UFC Sao Paulo on Saturday. His future with the promotion was already in jeopardy following the loss, and he could now be sidelined six months following an apparent injury suffered during the fight. The 37-year-old carries a 14-6-1 record as a professional fighter.

Moraes lost to James Krause via KO (punch) at 4:19 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
It's a testament to the toughness of Moraes that this fight nearly saw the final bell. It all fell apart for the Brazilian following a strong first round. His footwork evaporated and he allowed Krause to put together hard, sustained combinations. Moraes ate 125 total strikes over the course of 14-plus minutes and many of them were massive. This was a fight that Moraes had to have and he didn't get it. He entered 2019 with an 8-1-1 record in his last 10 bouts dating back to October 2012. Unfortunately he has dropped all three of his fights in this calendar year and there's no guarantee the 37-year-old will get another opportunity with the company.
Pitted against Krause in Sao Paulo

August 29, 2019
Moraes has been booked to fight James Krause at UFC Sao Paulo on Nov. 16, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's been a rough 2019 for Moraes, who has dropped each of his fights in the Octagon after going a perfect 2-0 in 2018. He most recently fell to Warlley Alves via knockout (punch) at UFC 237 in May. When taking recent form into account, his opponent, Krause, has the upper-hand given that he is on a five-fight winning streak and most recently defeated Alves himself via TKO (kicks and punches.
Struggles against Warlley Alves

May 11, 2019
Moraes lost to Warlley Alves via KO (punch) at 4:13 of Round 3 at UFC 237 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Moraes's training camp clearly didn't include any checking leg kicks. It would have been nice to see what he could do if he had two working legs, but unfortunately for the 36-year-old, Alves went to work on his lead leg early on and never let up. Given the damage he absorbed, it's insane to think Moraes nearly made it to the final bell. His poor performance in this one aside, Sergio has been one of the company's more underrated fighters for quite a while. He is 8-3 (1NC) in his last 12 bouts.
Taking on Warlley Alves at UFC 237

March 28, 2019
Moraes is scheduled to fight Warlley Alves at UFC 237 on May 11, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Moraes, looking to rebound from a loss to Anthony Rocco Martin in early March, will take on an opponent in Alves who's coming off a demoralizing loss from last summer that required Alves to fulfill a 180-day medical suspension.
