December 19, 2019
Akman was released from his UFC contract Thursday, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After a 5-0 start to his professional career, Akman was outmatched in his first two UFC matchups, and he will not get a third opportunity after showing some regression between his UFC debut and his second appearance. It's unclear where the 28-year-old could fight in the future.

No-shows UFC 243 loss
WelterweightOther
October 5, 2019
Akman lost to Jake Matthews via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 243 on Saturday in Melbourne, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Gifted an opportunity he didn't deserve in his second UFC bout, Akman was unable to take advantage. Although the quality of competition was clearly better, Akman took a clear step back from what we saw in his company debut this past June. He was credited with just 15 total strikes on 110 attempts. That is a 13 percent clip and about the lowest number you will ever see in a professional mixed martial arts bout at any level. There is no guarantee Akman will get a third opportunity with the company.
Slated for UFC 243
WelterweightOther
August 15, 2019
Akman will fight Jake Matthews at UFC 243 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on Oct. 5, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Akman fell to Sergey Khandozhko via unanimous decision in his UFC debut in June, so he'll head to Australia in search of his first victory since joining the promotion. He's demonstrated plenty of power during his professional MMA career, resulting in a 5-1 record.
Comes up just short in UFC debut
WelterweightOther
June 1, 2019
Akman lost to Sergey Khandozhko via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 153 in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Akman fought like someone with more than five fights on his record in this one, pressuring his opponent effectively and doing well to stay on his feet in wrestling scrambles. His aggressiveness may have gotten the better of him late, however, as his much more experienced opponent began to find counters, dropping him with a hook in the second round. It's clear that Akman is a powerful fighter who looks for the finish, which may be a blessing and a curse as he continues in his young career. He falls to 5-1 in his professional MMA career as a result of the loss.
UFC debut booked
WelterweightOther
May 26, 2019
Akman will make his UFC debut against Sergey Khandozhko at UFC Stockholm on June 1, Nolan King of Flocombat reports.
ANALYSIS
Akman is 5-0 as a professional, picking up his last victory just weeks ago against Mauricio Reis via TKO (punches) at Superior Challenge 19 on May 11. He's a Stockholm native that won't have to travel far for his short-notice debut against Khandozhko, a 27-year-old Russian with a 25-5-1 professional record. Little is known about these two combatants, so it's no surprise betting odds have yet to be released, and it's unclear if this matchup will be featured in fantasy contests for the June 1 card.
