Set for June return vs. Parisian
Martinez (knee) is slated to face Josh Parisian in a heavyweight matchup at the UFC's event on June 19, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Martinez is coming off a six-month medical suspension due to a knee injury, but he's been cleared to return to the Octagon. Currently sitting at 0-2 in his UFC career, June's event will be a key opportunity for Martinez to secure a win. Parisian is also looking to earn his first victory with the promotion.

Suffers knee injury in loss
Martinez is facing a 180-day suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission pending medical clearance of a possible left knee injury, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Martinez made it the distance against Don'Tale Mayes on Saturday, it wasn't a particularly impressive effort from either fighter, and Martinez will fall to 0-2 in the UFC as a result. He's been outlanded 65 to 114 in terms of significant strikes in those two fights, as well as taken down five times. To make matters worse, he's now dealing with a knee issue that could keep him away from the Octagon until next spring, pending clearance in the form of a MRI.

Still searching for first UFC win
Martinez lost to Don'Tale Mayes via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Martinez didn't embarrass himself but he started slowly and found himself well behind on the scorecards before picking up the pace a bit in Round 3. Martinez is extremely undersized for a heavyweight at just 5-foot-10 and his lack of athleticism makes it difficult for him to generate any consistent offense in a short period of time. Martinez is nothing more than roster depth and there is no guarantee he gets a third opportunity with the company after dropping each of his first two bouts with the UFC.

Booked for Nov. 14 fight
Martinez will face Don'Tale Mayes in a heavyweight bout at the UFC Apex on Nov. 14, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Martinez drew an unlucky opponent in his UFC debut as he lost to Alexander Romanov via submission (arm-triangle choke) in September. He'll get a chance to earn his first win with the promotion against Mayes, who has lost his first two fights in the UFC. Mayes most recently lost to Rodrigo Nascimento via submission (rear-naked choke) in May and was initially slated to face Philipe Lins on Nov. 7 before a knee injury forced Lins off the card. Mayes has an advantage in reach heading into the matchup.

Not competitive in UFC debut
Martinez lost to Alexander Romanov via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 4:22 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
You can't help but feel bad for Martinez. The 34-year-old finally got a chance to make his (late notice) UFC debut, only to face an opponent who legitimately appears to be one of the brightest up-and-coming fighters in the heavyweight division. Quite honestly, Martinez did a heck of a job to last as long as he did. He was ONLY a +360 underdog going into the fight, but it might as well have been twice that once the opening bell rang. Martinez -- a long-time Rizin competitor -- doesn't have much of a track record, but he seems quite likely to get a second shot with the company despite his struggles in this one.
