Losing streak hits five
Barao lost to Douglas Silva de Andrade via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 26-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Yes, this is the same Renan Barao who was once UFC Featherweight Champion and considered one of the very best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Barao's fall from grace has been stunning and severe. Dating back to the May 2014 fight in which he lost his belt to T.J. Dillashaw, Barao is now 2-8 in his last 10 bouts overall, including five straight losses. He's had problems with mat specialists, wrestlers, and power punchers such as Silva de Andrade. Quite frankly, it's surprising Barao's struggles haven't been talked about more frequently. There's no guarantee the UFC will be able to run Barao out there again. He's been with the company since May 2011.

Gets opportunity at featherweight
Barao will square off against Douglas Silva de Andrade in a featherweight bout at UFC Sao Paulo on Nov. 16, Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Barao is without-a-doubt on his last leg in the UFC. His loss via KO against Luke Sanders at UFC on ESPN 1 back in February was his fourth straight loss and his sixth in his last seven trips to the octagon. He'll now make what could potentially be one last attempt as he moves up from bantamweight to featherweight, and he'll be looking to get his first victory since September of 2016.

Faces a tough decision
Barao lost to Luke Sanders via TKO (strikes) at 1:01 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 1 on Sunday in Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
This might spell the end of Barao's run in the UFC. He has now lost four-straight fights. In the first round, Barao did some solid work with his kicks. He landed a multitude of kicks to the body and looked to be ahead of Sanders. However, in the second round, Sanders began coming forward with hard strikes to counter the kicks. One of those shots dropped Barao. As Barao went down, it was pretty clear that the fight was over.

Comes in heavy yet again
Barao weighed in at 138 pounds Saturday morning -- two pounds over the bantamweight limit -- for his matchup against Luke Sanders at UFC Phoenix, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Barao has now missed weight for two consecutive fights, and this will mark the fourth time overall he's had trouble with the scales. According to Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca, Barao has compiled a 1-3 record in fights where his official weight has been above the bantamweight limit of 136.0 pounds. It's been an unbelievable fall from grace for the former champion, who has lost three fights in a row and five of his last six overall. He sits as a (+155) betting underdog as of Saturday evening, and will have to give up 20 percent of his purse to Sanders.

Squares off against Luke Sanders
Barao will take on Luke Sanders in a bantamweight bout at UFC Phoenix on Feb. 17.
ANALYSIS
The Brazilian is enduring a very rough stretch, having lost three straight fights and six of his last eight. He has had trouble making weight over that stretch, missing the target by over five pounds in his previous match against Andre Ewell in September but losing the match by split decision anyway. He'll face a similarly struggling opponent, as Sanders has lost three of his last four fights and was hit with a 180-day medical suspension following his first-round submission defeat against Rani Yahya in August.
