Gets stopped in dramatic fashion
Taleb lost to Muslim Salikhov via KO (punch) at 4:26 of Round 1 at UFC 242 in The Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Taleb operates best when fighters give him time to establish his kicking game, but he got no such joy from Sailikhov, who cut off the cage expertly and got his opponent backing up before finding the one-shot kill. Taleb entered the UFC with a decent amount of fanfare, but he has now been stopped by strikes in two of his last three fights, which may be an indicator that fighters are starting to figure him out. He falls to 15-7 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Easily handles Kyle Prepolec
Taleb defeated Kyle Prepolec via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Ottawa.
ANALYSIS
Easy work. Taleb hasn't exactly been a picture of consistency during his time with the UFC, but he was easily able to get by his late-notice replacement in Prepolec. Taleb got off to a bit of a slow start before battering Prepolec in Rounds 2 and 3. Taleb landed 65 total strikes over the course of the final 10 minutes compared to just 30 from the debuting Canadian. Taleb is 3-3 in his last six bouts dating back to February 2017.

Appears to need new opponent
Taleb may be in need of a new opponent for his scheduled March 4 bout at UFC Ottawa, as his original opponent, Siyar Bahadurzada, announced via a personal Facebook post that he is withdrawing due to injury.
ANALYSIS
Taleb had been looking to get back on track from a two-fight losing streak, but now it appears the promotion will be left searching for a replacement on only 10 days' notice. It's possible the fight is simply moved to a later date, though Taleb likely doesn't have a ton of negotiating power due to his recent string of defeats.
