Loses via shocking submission in Round 3 in England
Burnell was defeated by Arnold Allen via submission (front choke) at 2:41 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Liverpool.
ANALYSIS
Burnell controlled the majority of this fight. His striking was surprisingly effective against Allen and Burnell could get a takedown virtually anytime he wanted. The Danish fighter had multiple takedowns in each round and intelligently stayed in full guard and half guard so he did not give "Almighty" any space to get back to his feet. His ground and pound was not powerful but surely had him ahead on the judges' scorecards. However, in the third round Burnell went for a level change for a takedown and exposed his neck. Allen was opportunistic and grabbed his neck, sinking in the choke and forcing the tap. It was a shocking end to a fight Burnell had controlled from the opening bell.

Storms back in rounds two and three to take decision victory
Burnell defeated Mike Santiago via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
After falling via submission in his UFC debut, Burnell picked up his first Octagon victory here against Santiago. He struggled in the first round. However, in the next two rounds, he was able to implement his grappling. Clearly, Burnell's cardio was his advantage. Once Santiago began to tire, Burnell took over and continually scored takedowns. For the most part, he did enough on the ground, but he was never really close to finishing the fight. He improves to 1-1 in the UFC and 9-2 overall.

Falls via third-round submission at UFC Rotterdam
Burnell lost to Michel Prazeres via submission (north-south choke) at 1:26 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night 115 on Saturday in Rotterdam.
ANALYSIS
Burnell really did not get a chance to show very much in this fight. He had a few brief moments in the striking game, but he spent most of this fight stuck on the bottom trying to hold onto half guard. He took this fight on short notice and should get another shot in the UFC. His professional record falls to 8-2 with the loss.
