Loses in return from long layoff
Letson lost to Felicia Spencer via TKO (punches) at 4:25 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Letson deserves an immense amount of credit for lasting as long as she did. She was thoroughly dominated from start to finish but still somehow nearly saw the final bell. The bottom line is that Letson was unable to match the strength of Spencer at the point of attack. She was constantly and repeatedly controlled along the fence and on the ground for extended periods at a time, limiting her ability to get off any offense of her own. Letson's lone offensive thrust was a takedown just seconds into Round 3, but Spencer quickly reversed position, and Letson never threatened again. This was Letson's first fight in nearly three years, so it's understandable she was rusty, but there is zero margin for error for a competitor with such an extremely limited professional resume.
