Destroyed by Jessica Andrade
FlyweightUFC
January 21, 2023
Murphy lost to Jessica Andrade via unanimous decision (25-30, 25-30, 26-30) at UFC 283 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
This was extremely difficult to watch. Yes, Murphy was credited with 103 total strikes landed, but that pales in comparison to the 237 Andrade connected with. Simply put, Murphy served as a punching bag for 15 minutes. Lauren attempted 15 takedown attempts out of sheer necessity and failed on every single one of them. Murphy's toughness isn't in question, but this was a fight in which either her corner, or referee Osiris Maia, should have stepped in and shut it down. There was zero path to victory and the damage Murphy absorbed could take years off her career. Murphy will be 40 years of age in late July. There's virtually no long-term upside here despite the fact Lauren is 6-2 in her past eight bouts dating back to August 2019.

Fighting Andrade at UFC 283
FlyweightUFC
October 18, 2022
Murphy is scheduled to face Jessica Andrade in a flyweight bout Jan. 21 at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This should be an intriguing battle, as both parties seem to be, on paper, more than equal. Murphy, who previously defeated Miesha Tate via unanimous decision July 16, will be entering the ring trying to seek a two-match winning streak. Andrade will try to extend her streak to three battles with a win.
Gets right back in win column
FlyweightUFC
July 16, 2022
Murphy defeated Miesha Tate via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC on ABC 3 on Saturday on Long Island.
ANALYSIS
It was an ugly and grinding affair, which is typically the case when Murphy fights. The biggest surprise of the bout was the significant speed edge Murphy seemed to possess over Tate. She got off first in virtually all the striking exchanges between the two women, in addition to landing the only successful takedown of the night. Murphy turns 39 years of age in late July and is extremely limited from an athletic standpoint, but she's experienced and tough as nails and will have no issues defeating opponents who accomplish little inside the Octagon, as Tate did here. Murphy has won six of seven dating back to August 2019, with her lone loss during that span being a title fight against Valentina Shevchenko last September.

Murphy has been removed from the UFC 276 event on July 2 against Miesha Tate, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After the fight was already postponed twice, the bout between Murphy and Miesha Tate is officially off. The UFC is currently looking for replacements to fight Tate at the July 2 event. According to a later update from MMAFighting.com, Murphy ended up testing positive for COVID, which forced the cancellation. Her camp is hopeful that the UFC will rebook this matchup for a Long Island event on July 16, but the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
