Next fight scheduled
Holobaugh will take on Kaynan Kruschewsky in a lightweight bout at a UFC event on July 20 in Las Vegas, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Holobaugh will look to right the ship in the UFC, as he's just 1-5 in the promotion and is coming off a loss to Trey Ogden via unanimous decision in March. His tilt with Kruschewsky is scheduled for almost exactly a year following his first and only win in the UFC, a Round 2 victory over Austin Hubbard. His opponent Kruschewsky is 0-1 in the UFC and will also be looking for a cathartic win.

Can't defend takedown in loss
Holobaugh lost to Trey Ogden via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Holobaugh did just fine in this fight whenever the two men were standing and trading shots. Unfortunately for Kurt, those moments were few and far between. Holobaugh was grounded by Ogden in each round and displayed zero ability to work his way back to his feet. Kurt deserves a bunch of credit for battling back and winning The Ultimate Fighter last August at age 36, but the story of his career has been inconsistency, as we saw in this fight. Unless he gets things straightened out, Holobaugh's return to the UFC may be a brief one.

Booked against Ogden
Holobaugh will fight Trey Ogden at UFC Vegas 88 on March 23, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Holobaugh was booted from the UFC in 2019 after dropping to 0-4 in the promotion, but he eventually re-earned his spot and secured his first UFC win against Austin Hubbard in August. Holobaugh will now look to keep his momentum going against Ogden, who hasn't won a fight since 2022.

Crowned TUF lightweight champion
Holobaugh defeated Austin Hubbard via submission (triangle choke) at 2:39 of Round 2 at UFC 292 on Saturday in Boston. With the victory, he was crowned TUF Season 31 Lightweight Champion and earns a spot back on the UFC roster.
ANALYSIS
Holobaugh battled his way back to what will effectively be his third stint with the UFC at the age of 36. He fought through a tough first round that included two Hubbard takedowns to get there, but it was Round 2 in which Holobaugh started to let his hands go, which led to the finishing sequence. A combination finishing with a right cross left Hubbard compromised, and it was during a mat transition that Holobaugh clamped on the fight-winning triangle. He called out Paddy Pimblett in his post-fight interview, which may be punching above his weight class, but who can blame a man riding high after a comeback efforts such as this.

Facing Hubbard in TUF 31 Finale
Holobaugh will take on Austin Hubbard at UFC 292 on August 19 to determine the lightweight winner of season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter.
ANALYSIS
Holobaugh will face a fellow Team Chandler combatant in Hubbard, both of whom come from the "veterans" portion of the show. He earned this opportunity after defeating another teammate in Jason Knight via second-round TKO, an outcome that seemed inevitable after taking control for much of Round 1. Holobaugh last competed in the UFC back in 2019, where he lost three consecutive fights before being handed his walking papers. He went on to win back-to-back fights under the banner of XFC before eventually making his way to TUF in hopes of getting a second chance with the UFC. He'll enter this fight as approximately a (+150) betting underdog.
