Falls to 2-8 in last 10 fights after TKO loss Friday
Ellenberger lost to Ben Saunders via TKO (knees) at 1:56 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Utica, New York.
ANALYSIS
Ellenberger's issue of late had been his glass chin but on Friday it was a Saunders knee to the midsection that ended his evening. Yes, The Juggernaut had to face Saunders on short notice after originally preparing for a since injured Bryan Barberena, but Ellenberger has all but run out of excuses. A lot of the setbacks have come against world class competition, but Ellenberger is now sporting a 2-8 record in his last 10 fights dating back to July 2013.

New opponent at UFC Utica
Ellenberger will now face Ben Saunders at UFC Utica on June 1 following the withdrawal of Bryan Barberena, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ellenberger was originally supposed to face Barberena, but the fight was scrapped just days after the initial booking. Unlike the matchup against Barberena, however, Ellenberger will now enter as a betting favorite with a moneyline of approximately (-175). It's a bit surprising Ellenberger is still on the roster with a 2-7 mark in his last nine fights, but if he comes through as the favorite, the 33-year-old should live to see another day. He'll have to do so against an older and experienced fighter in Saunders, who happens to be on a two-fight skid himself.

Added to Utica event
Ellenberger will face Bryan Barberena in a welterweight matchup at UFC Utica on June 1, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a milestone fight for Ellenberger, who will be competing under the UFC banner for the 20th time in his career. The 32-year-old is just 2-7 in his last nine bouts, but he's been fighting the best welterweights on the roster for quite some time. It should be a close matchup between two promotion veterans that each possess a high stoppage rate.

Gets brutally finished by Mike Perry in Nashville
Ellenberger lost to Mike Perry via KO (Elbow) at 1:05 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Ellenberger did a good job disrupting Perry's timing with takedown attempts in Round 1, but Perry made the adjustment in Round 2, hitting Ellenberger with an elbow from the clinch that left him on the mat while the official particulars were being read. Ellenberger clearly still has good strategy and technique, but it may be time to question whether he can continue to go through the wars that have made him a staple of the sport. The 32-year-old drops to 31-13 as a result of the loss, having lost four of his last five fights.

Suffers crazy, strange defeat at the hands of Jorge Masvidal
Ellenberger lost to Jorge Masvidal via TKO (punches) at 4:05 of Round 1 at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Good luck seeing a finish like that ever again. Ellenberger was pushing forward for a takedown when he toes got caught in the fence and forced him to the ground. As he was trying to get his toes out, Masvidal was unloading countless shots that forced referee Herb Dean to step in. It appeared as if Dean was just hoping to call a timeout, but he apparently asked commission officials at cageside if the fight was over and they said it was. Ellenberger will almost certainly appeal the decision. Prior to the stoppage, Ellenberger was getting beaten from pillar to post by Masvidal. He deserves credit for hanging in there, but it's clear that Jake simply has nothing left. There appears to be a slight chance this result is changed to a no-contest, but for the moment, Ellenberger finds himself with a 2-6 record in his last eight fights.
