The UFC released Azure on Monday, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Azure wasn't anything special during his time with the promotion, but he wasn't terrible either. He'll leave the promotion with a 2-2 record most recently dropping a split decision to Jack Shore in April. Those two losses represent the only defeats in his 11-fight professional career.

Azure lost to Jack Shore via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC on ABC 2 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
We're just a handful of fights into the card and we already have a couple strange judging scores on our hands. At least they appeared to get this one correct. Azure started slowly and finished slowly in this bout, but he had a strong Round 2, plus threw and landed more on the feet. Although he has alternated wins and losses in his first four official bouts with the company, Azure has proven to be a competent bantamweight who fights often and is almost always competitive. It won't lead to Azure cracking the rankings at 135 pounds any time soon, but he has definite value for a company which holds an event seemingly every week.
Will fight April 10

Azure (9-1-0) will face Jack Shore (13-0-0) at a UFC event on April 10, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports. A venue or location has not yet been determined.
ANALYSIS
Azure is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Cole Smith back in early September and should have his hands full when he squares up against Shore on April 10. Shore has a slight advantage in height but both fighters have had successful careers thus far and should make for a competitive matchup.
Secures victory despite fading late

Azure defeated Cole Smith Via Unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It looked like it was going to be a quick night for Azure after dropping his opponent with a big right hand early in Round 1, but Smith did well to survive, leaving the 28-year-old to chase takedowns for the majority of the fight. Things got a little hairy when Smith got his own takedown and jumped on Azure's back in the third frame, but he had already done enough to take a clear decision win. He will get his bonus, but this has to feel like a missed opportunity for Azure, who seems like he isn't exactly sure whether he wants to throw hands, or use his wrestling chops. He will need to formulate a cohesive gameplan if he wants to continue to climb in the rankings. Azure moves to 9-1 in professional MMA as a result of the win.
Pegged for Sept. 5 bout
BantamweightOther
August 7, 2020
Azure will take on Cole Smith on the Sept. 5 card, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Azure suffered his first professional loss via KO (punches) in the second round of his previous bout versus BrianKelleher but will aim to get back on track versus Cole Smith, who is also returning to the cage from his first professional loss. Azure yields three inches of height to his opponent but owns a one-inch reach advantage, which he will likely use to keep his opponent at a distance.
Suffers first pro loss

Azure lost to Brian Kelleher via KO (punches) at 3:40 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Wednesday in Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Azure appeared to have won Round 1 before the roof came crashing down on him in the second frame. Kelleher stuck to the game plan and dragged Azure into a back-and-forth brawl, and Azure eventually paid for it to the tune of his first pro loss. Azure's stopping power is limited, and he simply won't be able to succeed in the UFC if his chin doesn't hold up. It's a very disappointing result for a guy who entered as the second-biggest favorite on the card at -220. On the bright side, Azure will take home a $50,000 bonus after this bout was selected for Fight of the Night honors.
