November 12, 2018
Sandoval (undisclosed) has been let go by UFC and is now a free agent, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Sandoval is no longer listed within the flyweight rankings, so it seems Sandoval is now free to sign with a different promotion. UFC continues to cut the men's flyweight division, although it's unclear if Sandoval may be asked to move up a weight class. His last fight was slated for June 1 at UFC Utica against Jarred Brooks, but Sandoval had to withdraw because of injury.

Pulled from Utica matchup against Jarred Brooks
FlyweightOther
May 28, 2018
Sandoval will no longer face Jarred Brooks at UFC Utica on June 1, as he was forced to withdraw from the fight due to an undisclosed injury, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sandoval badly needed a rebound from the fastest KO loss in flyweight history last August, but that opportunity will have to be put on hold for now. With little details of the injury or other withdrawal reason available, it's unclear exactly when the 31-year-old will step back in the Octagon. In the meantime, Jose Torres will step in to replace him on short notice.

Sandoval will take on Jarred Brooks in a flyweight matchup at UFC Utica on June 1, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sandoval was the victim of the fastest knockout in the division's history in his last fight, falling just 15 seconds in to Dustin Ortiz. He'll look to bounce back against another relatively new flyweight that is also coming off a loss. Sandoval has already fought four times under the UFC banner, and three of those contests were ended via first-round stoppage. Though "odds to finish" marks are typically low in the men's flyweight division, this matchup has a good chance of breaking that stereotype.
Victim of fastest finish in UFC Flyweight History
FlyweightOther
August 5, 2017
Sandoval was defeated by Dustin Ortiz via KO (punches) at 0:15 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 114 on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
Not much to say here. Sandoval came out firing and actually landed two good punches on Ortiz. Sandoval was then knocked down by a punch and finished off by follow-up punches. No analysis is necessary here; he came out looking to brawl and he was the one to go down when the fighters started throwing.
Hammerfists his way to victory in Nashville
FlyweightOther
April 22, 2017
Sandoval defeated Matt Schnell via KO (punches) at 4:24 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The fight opened with a furious pace that saw the two competitors trading punches in the clinch like Pride FC fighters. Sandoval caught a kick and went for a takedown, and was able to slam himself free as Schnell wrapped the neck for a guillotine. Schnell looked to be trying to switch his hips for a submission attempt while on bottom, but Sandoval didn't miss a beat, posturing up and landing a succession of hammerfists to close the show. After getting starched by Wilson Reis in his UFC debut, Sandoval has now won his last two fights. He carries a 14-3 record in professional MMA.
Scores first UFC win Saturday in Sacramento
FlyweightOther
December 17, 2016
Sandoval defeated Fredy Serrano via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC on FOX 22 on Saturday in Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Sandoval didn't throw much on the feet, but he landed with great accuracy (42/76, 56%). He also landed just two of 12 takedown attempts, but his defense was so effective that he could afford to go for them with regularity. Sandoval had the near impossible task of facing one of the top contenders in the flyweight division in Wilson Reis in his UFC debut in July, but we saw much more of what we can expect from him moving forward on Saturday. It was a nice effort.
