Not under contract with UFC

May 15, 2021
Barzola is currently in search of a deal with a new organization after the UFC parted ways with him in late 2020 due to the fact that he couldn't renew his work visa to compete in the U.S., Danny Segura of MMA Junkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Barzola completed his 10-fight contract with the UFC with a majority draw against Rani Yahya in March of 2020 and was unable to strike a new deal with the promotion due to visa complications resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The 31-year-old was unable to travel from his home country of Peru due to travel restrictions and the fact that he couldn't renew his visa. Barzola was caught by surprise that he would not be brought back to the UFC even after the pandemic has lightened up in certain countries. He had decent success during his four-year tenure, going 6-3-1, and is now searching for a new home to resume his fighting career in 2021.

Digs deep to earn draw in Brazil
BantamweightPFL
March 14, 2020
Barzola and Rani Yahya fought to a majority draw (29-28, 28-28, 28-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Brasilia, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Barzola likely would have been furious with a draw when the bout began, but after 10 minutes he should count his lucky stars he was able to emerge with such a result. After a back-and-forth first two rounds which Yahya was getting the better of, Barzola completely took over in Round 3. He landed a remarkable 85 total strikes in the final frame, compared to just three from Yahya. By comparison, the strikes over the course of the first two rounds were 63-55 in Barzola's favor and he was still losing the fight. Barzola deserves credit for digging deep when he simply could have packed his bags and went home with the "L", while Yahya deserves to be heavily criticized for giving away a fight which he had in the bag. Barzola is 2-2-1 in his past five fights.
Moving to flyweight
BantamweightPFL
December 26, 2019
Barzola will take on Rani Yahya in a flyweight matchup at UFC Brasilia on March 14, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Barzola will make his debut in the flyweight division after going 5-3 as a featherweight, most recently losing to Movsar Evloev via unanimous decision at UFC Singapore in October. Yahya's three-fight winning streak ended in February when he lost to Ricky Simon via unanimous decision at UFC 234. Barzola has shown to be unrefined in his striking and wrestling attacks, and he'll need to work on his defense against Yahya, who has shown to be an effective grappler in the past. Barzola carries a height advantage over Yahya.
Has issues with defense
BantamweightPFL
October 27, 2019
Barzola lost to Movsar Evloev via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Singapore.
ANALYSIS
When he is at his best, Barzola is able to strike and wrestle with volume. He was able to land 78 significant strikes in this fight. However, he was continually beaten to the punch by Evloev. On top of that, he landed only one of his five takedown attempts. Instead Evloev was the one coming forward and landed four takedowns. Barzola will need to find a way to refine his wrestling and striking attacks. Against higher level fighters, he will need to add defensive to match his offensive volume.
October fight scheduled

October 4, 2019
Barzola will take on Movsar Evloev in a featherweight fight at UFC Singapore on Oct. 26, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Barzola will look to win his second fight in a row after beating Bobby Moffett by unanimous decision in Uruguay in August. Evloev has won his only UFC match so far.
Forced to change strategy and dig deep
BantamweightPFL
August 10, 2019
Barzola defeated Bobby Moffett via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night in Montevideo, Uruguay on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Barzola really had to work for this one. Moffett turned out to be a game opponent and actually outlanded Barzola 90 to 83 on significant strikes. However, Barzola always appeared to be the one pressing the action. He also scored three takedowns. Barzola never really did anything with any of the takedowns, but in a fight that was as close as this one, it is hard to say that those takedowns did not have an effect on the judges. Barzola may never fight for a UFC title, but he will certainly be at the front of the UFC's efforts to expand into South America.
