Can't handle takedown in loss to Colby Covington
WelterweightUFC
June 17, 2017
Kim lost to Colby Covington via unanimous decision (25-30, 26-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Kallang, Singapore.
ANALYSIS
Kim's takedown defense had been very good (80 percent) over the course of his UFC career entering Saturday, but he had no answer for the wrestling of Covington. Kim had a size and reach advantage, but he fought foolishly. He continued to try and push forward instead of staying at a distance and trying to pepper Covington. The end result was Covington landing eight takedowns. It was Kim's first loss since August 2014 and just the fourth of his career.

Gets Colby Covington in Singapore
WelterweightUFC
April 6, 2017
Kim will take on Colby Covington at UFC Fight NIght 111 on June 17 in Singapore, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The "Stun Gun" has won seven of his last eight UFC bouts, but faces an opponent in Covington that is equally hot, winning six of his last seven. Kim will need to make takedown defense a focus of his training camp, as the majority of Covington's victories have been as a result of using his wrestling to earn top control, where he can then look for a submission, or ride out a decision. Fortunately for Kim, he sports a career 80 percent takedown defense, and if he can keep the fight standing, Covington could be in trouble.
Uses aggressiveness to take decision from Tarec Saffiedine
WelterweightUFC
December 30, 2016
Kim defeated Tarec Saffiedine via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 207 on Friday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
A argument can certainly be made that Kim didn't win this one, but his aggressive style is the reason he got the judge's decision. Kim had more than his fair share of problems landing consistently on the feet, although he continued to press forward despite the struggles. Saffiedine scored with plenty of counter shots, but none of them were hard enough to stop Kim's forward momentum. Kim has a reckless style of fighting. In general, that's not a particularly good thing, but it won him the fight on Friday. Kim entered this fight ranked #9 in the UFC's welterweight division despite the fact he hadn't beat anyone of note in years. At age-35, he better fight more frequently because his skills will start to evaporate sooner or later.
Added to UFC 207

Kim will face Tarec Saffiedine at UFC 207 on Dec. 30, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Kim had a fight with Gunnar Nelson at this weekend's UFC Belfast cancelled, but he'll get an upgrade to what will likely be a preliminary event of a pay-per-view card. The South Korea native has won two straight fights, but has been out of the Octagon for more than a calendar year.
Next fight uncertain
WelterweightUFC
October 26, 2016
Kim will not get a replacement opponent for UFC Belfast following the withdrawal of Gunnar Nelson due to injury, FOX Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Kim had to withdraw from UFC 202 due to an injury of his own, so this will be his second straight scheduled bout cancelled due to circumstances out of his control. The "Stun Gun" last fought in Nov. 2015, but any momentum gained from a two-fight winning streak has likely halted due to the year-long layoff. The next move for Kim remains to be seen.
Forced out of UFC 202 due to undisclosed injury
WelterweightUFC
July 13, 2016
Kim won't fight in UFC 202 against Neil Magny due to injury, Damon Martin of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear what injury forced Kim out, or how serious it is, but now Neil Magny will wait for word on a new opponent. There will likely be more updates on Kim's timetable for return in the near future.
