Loss at UFC 247 overturned
The outcome of Pilarte's fight against Journey Newson at UFC 247 has been overturned to a no contest by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pilarte fell to a 38-second knockout at UFC 247, but as a result of Newson testing positive for marijuana, the results of the match will now be recorded as "no context" on each fighter's record. While the change makes Pilarte's UFC record look better on paper, it doesn't change the fact that he's now been outclassed in back-to-back contests.

Still seeking first UFC victory
Pilarte lost to Journey Newson via TKO (punches) at 0:38 of Round 1 at UFC 247 on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Pilarte landed a high kick moments after the opening bell rang and it was pretty much all downhill from there. He was unable to recover after Newson popped him with a perfectly placed right hand. Pilarte looked mediocre in dropping his UFC debut to Felipe Colares last July and was obviously no better Saturday. Pilarte earned his UFC contract with a submission win on Dana White's Contender Series, but after dropping his first two bouts with the company, he's likely to stay on the early prelims for the foreseeable future.

Can't overcome slow start
Pilarte lost to Felipe Colares via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC San Antonio on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
An injury delayed Pilarte's debut after he earned a contract via the Contender Series in July of 2018, and the long layoff may have played a role here. The card's biggest betting favorite started slow, absorbing several kicks early, including an array of knees while up against the fence. Roughly midway through the first, Pilarte was taken down and forced to eat heavy ground-and-pound, which likely led to him dropping that frame. He spent the early part of the second with his back against the cage, but held on to an underhook that allowed him to work some of his jiu-jitsu. With less than two minutes left in the second, he landed a hard knee and started to take control of the striking, but still ended up finishing the round on his back after multiple transitions and kimura attempts. Heading into the third and likely needing a finish, Pilarte took an immediate shot to the groin following the opening bell. After regrouping, he backed Colares up against the fence, took his back and dragged him to the mat in search of a submission. He spent the entirety of the last frame in dominant position looking for the rear-naked choke, but Colares was able to survive. It was ultimately too little, too late for the 29-year-old, who will go back to the drawing board with a 8-2 professional record.
