Underwhelms in Fort Lauderdale
Smoliakov lost to Greg Hardy via TKO (strikes) at 2:15 of Round 1 at UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Smoliakov simply looked like he didn't want to be there from the very beginning. He opened the fight passively, allowing Hardy to control the center of the Octagon in search of his signature power shots. Smoliakov threatened with a weak takedown attempt and threw a couple of shots, but that was about it. A stiff uppercut against the fence brought Smoliakov to the canvas, where he immediately curled up while Hardy rained down punishment. Smoliakov is now winless in three opportunities with the promotion.

Gets Greg Hardy in April
Smoliakov will take on Greg Hardy in a heavyweight matchup at a UFC Fight Night event on April 27, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Smoliakov lost his first two UFC bouts to Luis Henrique Barbosa and Cyril Asker, and was scheduled for another chance against Adam Wieczorek in a fight that was ultimately called off. The 36-year-old could be nearing the end of his run with the UFC if he takes a loss to Hardy, who is 0-1 in official UFC fights. Hardy ran through every opponent on the amateur circuits, but Allen Crowder took him into uncharted territory (the second round) in his UFC debut, where Hardy was eventually disqualified due to illegal knees. Smoliakov will have to withstand what is likely to be an early onslaught from Hardy, who in a brief sample size, typically empties the tank from the opening bell. Should he take Hardy to the second round or beyond, the former NFL star could be more apt to make a mistake.

To meet Adam Wieczorek at UFC Gdansk
Smoliakov will face Adam Wieczorek in a heavyweight fight at UFC Fight Night 118 on October 21 in Gdansk, Alexander Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Smoliakov has yet to score a UFC win since debuting with the promotion in July 2016. "The Lifeguard" is 8-2 overall (0-2 UFC) and never gone the distance in a fight. His longest time in the cage was against Luis Henrique when he was submitted (rear-naked choke) at 3:58 of Round 2; this is the only time he's gone past Round 1.

Gets pounded out by Cyril Asker in Phoenix
Smoliakov lost to Cyril Asker via TKO (strikes) at 2:41 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 103 in Phoenix on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smoliakov made the mistake of trying to generate offense rather than defend once he was put on his back, which allowed Asker to move quickly into mount and work his ground-and-pound. Smoliakov now has TKO losses in each of his two UFC bouts, making it unlikely that he will be with the organization much longer.
