Succumbs to superior grappler
Horcher lost to Roosevelt Roberts via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:50 of Round 1 at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale in Las Vegas on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Horcher never seemed to get off the blocks in this one, as he struggled to get inside the range of the lankier Roberts before a clinch against the cage led to the finish. Horcher is a powerful counter striker with an otherwise underwhelming skill set but there will always be a question as to how much a brutal motorcycle accident he suffered in 2016 has halted his development as a fighter. He is 1-2 since the incident and owns a 13-4 professional record overall in professional MMA.

Is not up to the challenge against Scott Holtzman
Horcher lost to Scott Holtzman via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Fresno, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Horcher struggled to deal with the pressure approach of Holtzman. At distance, Horcher landed some shots, but he ate too many power shots from Holtzman. In the clinch, he gave up multiple takedowns. He would have spent more time stuck on the bottom had he not enjoyed some questionable standups from the referee. Horcher will need to go back to the drawing board. He was in this fight, but he was never in a position to win it. He is now 1-2 in the UFC with his only victory coming against Devin Powell.

Will meet Scott Holtzman at UFC Fresno
Horcher will face Scott Holtzman in a lightweight contest at UFC Fight Night 123 on December 9 in Fresno, Damon Martin of MMAWeekly.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Horcher signed with the UFC in 2016 when he took Tony Ferguson's place against Khabib Nurmagomedov. He suffered his second career loss in that fight but recently scored his first UFC win over Devin Powell via split decision. The southpaw has a 13-2 career record with six KO/TKO victories and six decision wins.

Wins by split decision at UFC Fight Night 112 in Oklahoma City
Horcher defeats Devin Powell via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night 112 on Sunday in Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
The first round was not very eventful, but Horcher was able to gain top position and control Powell. After getting some helpful advice from his corner, Horcher moved forward more aggressively and was able to hurt Powell with punches. He eventually got a takedown and controlled from top position for much of the second round, inflicting a lot of damage on Powell. Powell threatened with a submission late in the third, but it was too little too late as Horcher escaped and survived for the split decision victory.

Darrell Horcher: New opponent for Nurmagomedov
Horcher has signed with the UFC and will replace Tony Ferguson (chest) in the scheduled bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov on April 16, FOX Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Since the fight is just nine days away, the two will fight at a catchweight of 160 pounds, rather than an originally scheduled lightweight (155 pounds) bout. Horcher has fought for both Bellator and Cage Fury in the past, and owns a 12-1 professional record with his last two victories coming by knockout. Although Nurmagomedov hasn't seen the octagon since 2014, rust shouldn't be a major factor for the American Kickboxing Academy product. Horcher will be faced with the toughest challenge of his career to date.
