Struggles continue in Boston
Spitz lost to Tanner Boser via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Boston.
ANALYSIS
Spitz's 16 months on the sidelines did not help his performance in the least. Returning for the first time since a June 2018 knockout loss at the hands of Walt Harris, Spitz struggled once again. He consistently got off second in all the striking exchanges between the two men and landed a measly four total strikes in Round 1. While the numbers looked a bit better of the course of the final ten minutes of the bout, Spitz was still swept on the judge's scorecards. The 29-year-old is now 1-3 in his first four UFC bouts.

Lands on UFC Boston card
Spitz has been booked to take on Tanner Boser at UFC Boston on October 18, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
It has been over a calendar year since Spitz last stepped foot into the octagon, as he was forced to serve a 90-day medical suspension following his last loss to Walt Harris via knockout at UFC Fight Night 131 and hasn't fought since. Spitz's time with the UFC promotion hasn't been off to a great start, as he's gone 1-2 in his first three fights, but he will now have the opportunity to welcome Boser to the ranks, as he will be making his UFC debut in October.

90-day medical suspension
Spitz was issued a 90-day medical suspension following his UFC Utica loss to Walt Harris, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
No fighters on the card were issued 180-day suspensions, but both Spitz and headliner Jimmie Rivera will be dealt 90 days by the state of New York. Spitz is now 1-2 in the UFC, with a less-than-stellar striking differential of minus-1.89. Though he has plenty of length he could use to his advantage, Spitz is unlikely to be cracking the heavyweight rankings anytime soon.

Knocked out by Walt Harris Friday in Utica
Spitz lost to Walt Harris via TKO (punches) at 4:59 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Utica, New York.
ANALYSIS
To say Spitz had no answer for the athleticism of Harris would be a massive understatement. He looked befuddled from the moment the opening bell rang and it only got worse as the fight progressed. After seeing his performance on Friday, it sure appears that Spitz's 24 second knockout win over Anthony Hamilton last September was nothing more than a fluke. The 27-year-old is nothing more than roster depth in the thin UFC heavyweight division.

Added to Utica card
Spitz will take on Walt Harris in a heavyweight matchup at UFC Utica on June 1, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Spitz has just two UFC fights on his resume -- a decision loss to Mark Godbeer and a TKO victory over Anthony Hamilton. Harris was defeated by Godbeer as well, but that fight was lost due to a disqualification (illegal head kick). Spitz is a younger fighter that will have a height advantage, and is potentially a bit more diverse in his skill set. Harris has never won a fight by means other than KO/TKO, but Spitz has a few submission wins on his record from his days under the Conquest of the Cage banner.
