Taking on Elkins in October
Pineda will fight Darren Elkins at a UFC event in Las Vegas on October 19, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Pineda will head into the bout looking to turn things around after back-to-back losses in his two most recent bouts. The 5-foot-7 American will look to overcome a size and reach disadvantage to take down the 40-year-old Elkins, with both fighters boasting lengthy professional experience in the Octagon. Pineda will likely be hoping to get things going on the ground in the fight as he boasts an impressive 19-6 professional record in submission finishes.

Shows toughness in defeat
Pineda lost to Nathaniel Wood via unanimous decision (27-29, 27-29, 28-29) at UFC 304 on Saturday in Manchester, England.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a +330 underdog, Pineda deserves plenty of credit for seeing the final bell here. He essentially had his eye socket destroyed by Wood following a few massive blows, and he managed to not only hang in there but also win Round 3 on all three judges' scorecards. Part of that is due to the fact Wood essentially took the frame off, but Pineda is ridiculously tough. Unfortunately for the soon-to-be 39-year-old Texan, toughness doesn't lead to victories. Pineda is 1-3 (1NC) in his past five fights and likely needs a win his next time out to save his roster spot.

Given new opponent
Pineda is scheduled to compete against Nathaniel Wood in a featherweight fight at UFC 304 in Manchester on July 27, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Pineda had been waiting on a new opponent since his scheduled fight with Khusein Askhabov fell through after the latter suffered an overseas arrest. The former finally got a new opponent, scheduled against an English-born featherweight bound for another home return.

Needs new opponent
Pineda is in search of a new opponent for UFC Vegas 80 on Oct. 7 following the overseas arrest of his originally-scheduled opponent Khusein Askhabov, the UFC disclosed via an official statement.
ANALYSIS
The statement just specified that the scheduled bout had been cancelled, though it remains a possibility the company will look to find Pineda a replacement opponent, as the cancellation is no fault of his own. Pineda is looking to bounce back from a loss to Alex Caceres in June.

Next fight booked
Pineda is set to face off against Khusein Askhabov at UFC Vegas 80 on Oct. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Pineda, who lost his most recent bout, will look to bounce back against Khusein Askhabov. The 38-year-old American has started off his UFC career 2-2, but he will look to get back above .500 in October.
