Suffers first career loss Saturday against Luke Jumeau
Abe lost to Luke Jumeau via unanimous decision (27-29, 28-29, 27-28) at UFC 221 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Abe's strong start was more than cancelled out by the fact that he did virtually nothing in Rounds 2 and 3. The combinations that landed with regularity in the first frame were nowhere to be found for the remainder of the bout. Now two fights into his UFC career, Abe has the look of a high output guy that doesn't have all that much natural ability. He is nothing more than roster depth.

Wins via unanimous decision with late knockdown in Japan
Abe defeated Hyun Gyu Lim via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Japan.
ANALYSIS
This was an exciting fight. Abe is very confident in his striking, as is Lim. The UFC newcomer started out well, landing many left hooks in the first round. However, after being victimized by an eye poke early in the second round, his pace visibly slowed and he ate a lot of overhand rights from "The Ace." The fight was even after two rounds, and after a slow-paced third round Abe was able to land a huge right hand with about 20 seconds left. The punch smashed Lim's nose and led to all three judges awarding the decision to Abe in his UFC debut.
