Released by UFC
Zingano (eye) was released by the UFC on Wednesday, Nolan King of MMA Junkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Zingano has seven UFC fights under her belt and lost four of her last five outings in the octagon. She most recently suffered a loss via TKO to Megan Anderson at UFC 232 and emerged with eye damage, and now, the 36-year-old will have to sign with another promotion should she want to fight again.

UFC 232 appeal denied
Zingano's appeal of her UFC 232 loss to Megan Anderson has been denied by the California State Athletic Commission, Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Zingano was initially credited with a TKO loss at UFC 232 after taking a head kick in which the toes of her opponent landed in her eye. That resulted in Zingano being unable to continue, and Anderson was understandably credited with the victory. Zingano had been hopeful the commission would treat a toe poke to the eye similar to an eye poke with a finger (which would have led to a no-contest), but the commission voted 6-to-1 to uphold Anderson's win. As a result, Zingano's MMA record will officially remain at 10-4-0. It's unclear when the 36-year-old plans to next fight, though she'll likely need an extra layer of medical clearance next time around.

Appealing loss to Megan Anderson
Zingano (eye) is appealing her TKO loss to Megan Anderson at UFC 232, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The pair's late-December fight ended oddly, as Anderson's toe poked Zingano in the eye on a kick very early in Round 1. Anderson suffered significant eye damage including a damaged iris and damaged retina, so the referee stopped the fight, declaring Anderson the victor. The strike was ruled a legal one, with the eye damage an unfortunate and unintended side effect, so it doesn't appear likely that the appeal will succeed. A ruling, which will come at a hearing of the California State Athletic Commission in February, may not overturn the result of the fight but could still clarify the rules regarding accidental eye gouging.

Suffers eye damage at UFC 232
Zingano told Ariel Helwani of ESPN on Monday that she suffered significant damage to her right eye in her TKO loss to Megan Anderson at UFC 232 Saturday in Los Angeles. "I have a damaged iris, damaged retina, hemorrhage in the back of my eye, increased globe pressure and of course the laceration," Zingano told Helwani in a statement. "They want me back at the doctor every three to four days to make sure there's no detachment on the retina."
ANALYSIS
Zingano added that she's considering appealing the fight result after one of Anderson's toes appeared to strike her directly in the eye, which the 36-year-old apparently interpreted as an intentional eye gouge foul. Since California's rules don't describe a toe to the eye as a foul, it's unclear if Zingano's appeal will gain much momentum, but while she waits for a ruling on that front, it sounds like her training will be on hold for a while. Zingano noted that she'll need to have her eye dilated and on steroids for the next two weeks to reduce pressure and address the damage to her iris and retina.

Suffers bizarre TKO loss in Round 1
Zingano was defeated by Megan Anderson via TKO (referee stoppage) at 1:01 of Round 1 at UFC 232 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
This fight never really got started. Zingano was trying to stay on the outside and Anderson threw a kick. Anderson's toe poked Zingano in the eye and Zingano was not able to continue. The referee stopped the fight.
