Gustafsson defeated Pat Pytlik via TKO (knees) at 3:20 of Round 2 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of four fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Gustafsson wore his opponent down in Round 1 and likely won the frame on the basis of control time in the clinch and short strikes. He continued marching forward in Round 2, and despite eating a big shot, was able to force another clinch. This time, he landed a hard elbow, followed by multiple big knees that would go on to end the proceedings. Gustafsson now enters the welterweight division at the age of 33 after most recently competing on the Swedish regional circuits.
