Suffers tough KO loss at the hand of Kajan Johnson
Martins lost to Kajan Johnson via KO (punch) at 0:49 of Round 3 at UFC 215 on Saturday in Edmonton.
ANALYSIS
It was a disappointing end to a fight that Martins may very well have been winning. He scored a knockout late in Round 1 after he flattened Johnson with a counter left hand and he controlled the pace throughout the contest. Unfortunately, he also absorbed way too many power shots over the course of the bout including the one that finished the fight early in Round 3. Martins hits hard and is aggressive, but he needs to get his striking defense under control. It's difficult when your first instinct is to push forward and hunt down the opposition.

Falls to Leonardo Santos via split decision in Manchester
Martins lost to Leonardo Santos via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 204 on Saturday in Manchester, England.
ANALYSIS
Martins controlled the center of the octagon for most of the fight, but there was seemingly little separating the two men. Martins landed quite a few leg kicks, but as has been an issue for him in the past, he went long stretches of the fight throwing very few strikes. A bit more activity may have stole him the win. Saturday's setback ended a three-fight winning streak for Martins.

Adriano Martins: Knocks out Islam Makhachev Saturday in Houston
Martins defeated Islam Makhachev via KO at 1:46 of Round 1 at UFC 192 on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Martins didn't look good in the first minute or so, but all it took was one huge right hook to put an end to Makhachev's night. Don't look now, but Martins has now won five of his last six fights and his only loss during that span was to Donald Cerrone. Martins is 32-years old, so it's unlikely that he has a much higher ceiling than we've already seen, but he certainly is on a nice roll right now.
