Zharkov snagged 39 points in 62 with Albany (AHL) last season, but struggled to consistently produce during his limited tenure with the Devils the last two seasons.
Zharkov played 38 games for New Jersey last season, posting two goals and assists apiece. He's one of many skaters vying for ice time on the team's third and fourth lines and hasn't shown enough offensive consistency during the 78 games of his NHL career to warrant a regular role on the New Jersey squad.
Zharkov showed some good chemistry with several of the Devils' top-6 forwards last season but hit a bit of a wall in terms of production, with just 10 assists in 40 games. The Devils like his energy and work ethic and he's a promising prospect, but don't expect too much offensively just yet. That said, those in deep keeper leagues should remember his name as one of the team's rising players.
