MacIntyre was recalled on an emergency basis Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Jordan Eberle totaled three points in Tuesday's win over the Predators, but came away with a suspected knee injury, prompting the call-up of MacIntyre. The 33-year-old probably won't see much more than a fourth-line role if he plays Thursday against the Sabres.

The Penguins recalled MacIntyre for one game in 2012-13 and he responded with 12 penalty minutes. What you see is what you get with the 6-foot-5, 250 pounder -- a physical threat ready to drop the gloves at a moment's notice. The forward has compiled two goals and two assists in 91 NHL contests. Make no mistake, MacIntyre's there for his ability to fight and fight alone. He makes for a good add in daily leagues whenever the Pens square off against division rivals such as the Philadelphia Flyers. Otherwise, there's no reason to roster the 33-year-old.
The Penguins surprised many by re-signing MacIntyre in the summer of 2012. The fighter suited up for Pittsburgh 12 times in 2011-12 and failed to register one fighting major, collecting six penalty minutes. He might have value in daily leagues, when the Pens play a rival like Philadelphia and fighting might ensue. Other than in those types of games, MacIntyre is safe to avoid.
MacIntyre will fight for Pittsburgh on an as-needed basis in 2011-12 as part of a two-way contract he signed in the offseason. He replaces Eric Godard but probably won't stick on the NHL roster all season because of Deryk Engelland's emergence as a fighter last year. MacIntyre might be worth owning on a game-by-game basis against the likes of the Islanders, but his fantasy value likely ends there.
MacIntyre's only value to the Oilers and your fantasy team is with his fists. If your in a league that rewards penalty minutes than MacIntyre is a player to keep an eye on. Problem is he will get his fair of scratches if he can't add something else to the lineup.
MacIntyre's only real value to a fantasy team is if penalty minutes are rewarded, but he may not play enough games to make him a worthwhile pick in your league.
With good size (6-6, 265 pounds) and mobility, MacIntyre can keep up with fleet-a-foot forwards, and strong enough to hold his own in a scrap. He's mostly in the mold of a stay-a-home defenseman, so don't expect him to often join in an odd-man offensive rush down the ice; he is also very solid in the zone and will sacrifice his body to block a shot.
