The Sabres added Morrisonn last summer in their quest for a physical defenseman. He served that role well, but the end of his season was de-railed by a concussion and news about how well has recovered such a tenuous injury has not been made clear this offseason. The Sabres seem to be going in a different direction on defense for 2011-12, and it's very unclear where Morrisonn fits into those plans.

The 24-year-old Morrisonn emerged as the Caps' steadiest defenseman in 2006-07, earning a plus-3 rating while often checking the other team's top line on the otherwise defensively poor Capitals. He won't pour in many points -- he had 13 last season -- but will log a ton of ice time and can rack up some penalty minutes for your team, though he's not much of a fighter.
Acquired in a cost-cutting deadline deal for Sergei Gonchar before the lockout, Morrisonn didn't put up the flashiest offensive totals in 2005-06. He did, however, develop a reputation as the team's sturdiest defenseman, finishing tops among Washington blueliners at plus-7 and consistently leading the team in ice time at the end of the season. Morrisonn is guaranteed a spot on one of the top two defensive pairings for the Capitals, and if the team gets any better (and there's nowhere to go but up), his points and plus-minus should increase over last year's totals.
Morrisonn, a former first-round pick, has been a decent scorer in the minors, with 18 points in 71 games in the AHL last season. He'll be given a top-four role with the Capitals, and with Josef Boumedienne deciding to play in Sweden he should enjoy some power play time on the point. While his inexperience should lead to a poor plus-minus, Morrisonn is worth a flier in the deepest of leagues for power play potential.
