It's not quite "put up or shut up" time for Evans, considering he is just 22 years old, but a strong showing during the preseason would likely force the Kraken to keep him on the roster for Opening Night. In his rookie campaign last year, the Calgary native notched one goal and eight assists in 36 contests while averaging 19:11 of ice time. Evans has put his offensive upside on display in the minutes, with 15 points in 25 regular-season clashes with AHL Coachella Valley, a skill he will be looking to translate to the next level. Evans was in the lineup over Josh Mahura with the Kraken playing a lineup that looks very similar to what they're expected to roll out for Opening Night versus the Blues on Tuesday. The pair of helpers were Evans' first points in four preseason outings. While it looks like he's set to begin the year on the third pairing, he won't have an obvious path to power-play time -- Brandon Montour and Vince Dunn are expected to be the blueliners that see time with the man advantage.
